I almost passed out from motion sickness, I was very sick, dizzy, my head was very heavy. It was a 45mins flight, thankfully. I heard it is best to start with short local flights before doing international.
The first time I took an international flight, I was already doing better with flights but one woman beside me kept vomiting, I was terrified, they said it was her first time on a flight. She almost kpaed on that plane, the crew kept giving her all sorts and trying all sorts of aids to help her but she didn't stop vomiting. When we had a stop-over, she was rushed to a hospital.
My mum has never been on a flight and I wonder what will happen if she does. Her own motion sickness is severe. If she travels by land in a vehicle for 3hours, she vomits for like half of the journey, by train too, the same thing. There is no drug that we don't give her but she still vomits - prom***azine, me***pramide, etc don't work on her. She would travel on empty stomach, chew bitterkola, chew kolanut, lick TomTom, etc, she will vomit.
I remember how she vomitted and messed up the whole BRT bus when she visited me in Lagos and got stuck in Lagos traffic for two hours.
One of my daughters has this trait too. Moving around town in a vehicle, she would tell me she feels like throwing up. I would get her TomTom to suck on till we get to our destination. This happens in both air-conditioned and ordinary vehicles. If we travel, she vomits too. I have not taken her on a flight before.
Some people are suggesting that I give her a drop of fuel to lick and it will stop but I'm scared of doing it. Who has done it before? did it work? any better suggestion?
This used to happen to me with car rides but it has stopped...On INTERNATIONAL and local flights i wack anything i see...LOL
If i use my phone in a car be sure that my eyes will spin for a whole day and i will feel really sick
Same thing happened to me. My ears was so uncomfortable and I was feeling dizzy. I always close my eyes and keep my head stady
ReplyDeleteYour mom throwing up in a public bus is wrong absolutely wrong
ReplyDeleteWhy subject others to the smell and the trauma
What if there are young children
Yes people have these issues but they manage it or at best tell the driver so she is excused when the need arises
How do you know you throw up in a bus and yet mess the bus all up
Get a paper bag, nylon or bucket and attend to your issues when it arises.
That’s absolute rubbish
Just reading is so annoying
Take adequate measures to ensure you don’t create a nuisance in a public bus
What nonsense
If that vomit touch me inside that bus ehn,you will pay for it.
I will sit in a bus vomit will fly left right center
Stop it abeg

My first flight was horrible and I wasn’t prepared at all. It was going very fine for me as I had no motion sickness. When the plane started descending, it felt like it was trying to pull my teeth, eyes and ears off. It’s a kind of plane I can’t even explain. I was almost screaming and seriously crying that the hostess came asking me if I was okay.
ReplyDeleteNow whenever I fly, I chew gum when the plane is descending, doesn’t totally take away the pain, but it helps a great deal
My own is random ache and ringing in my ears during flights. I've been told it's due to cabin pressure so I chew gum and swallow intermittently. Na that turbulence I hate. We had serious turbulence few years back on an overnight flight and one mama just got up and lied down on the floor. Another person told me she felt like removing her clothes due to the stress. Not funny at all.

I have serious nausea in air conditioned cars....Never been on a plane yet
ReplyDeleteThen I should brace up for when I'd take my first flight because I used to have motion sickness though it has stopped but that dizzy feeling still comes up. I controlled the throwing up thing with bitter kola and I mind the things I eat while traveling. That vommiting can be so so embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteWow This is Serious oo
ReplyDeleteNever been on A plane ooo..
Hello iya Boys
A drop of fuel? That sounds scary to me. Anyway, I haven't heard of that before. But aren't there milder interventions that ameliorate motion sickness? Because I heard ginger helps. You know, ginger candy, ginger tea, or in raw form, taken a few minutes before the journey. Why don't you give it a try?—that's if your daughter hasn't tried them before, of course!
ReplyDeleteI was only scared because of plane crash, still scared at every time I flew till I stopped.
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice any difference in me because I prayed through out the flight, just 45 mins trip and I read all the psalms I knew by heart.
I have never had this problem before. I always travel with ease
ReplyDeleteNever had motion sickness but yet to be on a plane. Try to check if you'll see alternative for the fuel cos that one sounds somehow (to me sha.)I pray you find the solution you seek.
