Hmmmmmmmm....
STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
TOO OLD TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL
I am a 34 year old stay at home mom who has made a decision to go to nursing school. Who has ever been in my shoe and how did you navigate it? I am not from a science background either
Although I would have loved to study abroad but no funds for that now.
My husband says I am too old for studies, discouraging me and all...
Although I would have loved to study abroad but no funds for that now.
My husband says I am too old for studies, discouraging me and all...
You are married to a destiny killer.......Didnt you see this red flag before you married him? I dont have advice for you cos your man will never allow you go back to school....open a privsion shop in front of where you live.....
You are NOT too old to go back to school. He wants you to continue being a stay at home mum. I wish you the best. π€
ReplyDeleteYou are never too old to go back to school. I’m learning software development and have no inkling of what I was getting into but I am determined to gain more knowledge and diversify then try to inculcate it into my career path. I’m older than you are and a mom of 1. Determination is my key. I see people way younger than I am doing it and more vast but it doesn’t bother me because I’m doing it for me and My vison. My pace, my time. I will get there in due time.
DeleteGirl, please do not listen to anyone. Take a step at a time and you will achieve it. Don’t let anyone rush you or deter you. At your pace and you will gain the required knowledge and even go further than you thought. #bedetermined π
You can be anything you want...
DeleteMao Akuh
Thank you TWE ππ₯° You just lifted my spirit π€
DeleteDear if u have the money do it
DeleteIt's a course I still regret not studying though it was never my fault
You are not too old to go back to school. I am over 40yrs and went back to school for my Nursing program. It is the long term goal and my vision that matters to me.
DeleteSo, you can so it.
34? Too old? Nah! Take that bold step, follow your dreams.
DeleteLol @opening a provision shop, maybe oga is considering the financial implication.
ReplyDeletePoster, I think you have to retake SSCe and Jamb then apply to the school of your choice.
Your husband is either afraid that you will become something he is not or you will become financially stable. No body is too old to go to school. Not at any level.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine graduated from a University here, she read Accountancy, had her 3 children, they went to the Uk, after which they moved to the US. She is now a certified Nurse with a Masters Degree. And she is not the only one i know who changed career. Never ever believe anyone who tells you, you are too old to school.
Its a desire and a passion that can be fulfilled at any time.
Your husband eh... He should tell you what he is afraid of.
Pst Funke Adejumo, is reading Law in her 60's.
Google women who go back to school after bearing children. My dear you are still young. What your mind can conceive you can achieve.
Best wishes to you.
Don't listen to your husband ooo. Nah enemy of progress. There's no age too old to go to school, learn a skill or trade etc. someone I know is about 50 years, one of her child already in the university and she's buying nursing form this year to go back to school. And yes, here in naija. You mustn't wait to get the resources to school abroad. Start where you are. And you mustn't have all the tuition fees for the program duration. One Day at a time, and you will get there.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many people going back to school at 40, 50 etc.
D only person that can stop you from succeeding in life, is you.
What of me 31 year old, planning to study law next year.
ReplyDeleteAm done with my first degree, in sociology. Not marry yet, no kid .
No job just want to do .
My dad is the only one supporting me . While others are saying I could focus on bussiness or learn skills.
Am just confused for now.
Just find something doing while going to school. So as not to leave the sole responsibility on your dad. Check d school environment and see what you can sell. You can be an online vendor. Or learn a skill to support yourself while at school too. E.g baking, tailoring, hair dressing or tech skills
DeleteMost importantly, have a direction. Know what you want in life and pursue that path. If you don't, you can ask God
God bless you Hf bedding.
DeletePoster please don't mind your husband; nobody is too old for studies as long as that person has the will and determination to study.
ReplyDeleteLMAO @ open a provision shop in front of where you live ππ Stella that was my dream growing up oo, marry 1 rich man that will open a shop for me in my street π€£π€£ immediately after degree I congratulated myself and told myself the rest will be in my husband’s kitchen.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I married a totally different man that is forcing me to study more but where is the brain kwanu π’
Fan Emmanuel
ππ Fan aren't you lucky. Your husband is a destiny builder. You've limited yourself but he said mba. Bless God for him my sister.
DeleteI am not lucky cos I don’t want to stress my brain! Make my children continue from where I stopped ππ
DeleteFan Emmanuel
Fan, you be case, gaskia! π
DeleteFan, aswear u no wellπ€£
DeleteFan,lol
DeleteLol
DeletePoster first off get a job or start a business so you can start raising funds and have a source of income for your dream.....If you are in Lagos, I know in Yaba, there is a nursing school off Montgomery road, you can make some enquiries from there....
ReplyDeleteLook since this is your dream, pursue with it with all your heart...There will be distractions, discouragement from people you would never expect but keep your head up and know that these things are bound....I can imagine how you feel but know you won't get support from your husband.....You can achieve anything you set your mind to irrespective of your age....
All the best
34 yrs old is very young to go back to school. My mother went to nursing school when she was 37 and had 3 children. It can be done but it is not easy, especially if you have young children. If you had yours young and they are teens now then it will be much easier.
ReplyDeleteI wish your husband was more supportive but do not let that stop you. If you feel the calling to broaden your coast and care for the sick then push on forth in determination and purpose. Once you complete your program the feeling of accomplishment will all make it worth it. And you will be able to work up to 20 years+ as a nurse. That makes it worth it to me.
A student of mine entered our program at 60 years old. She had a lot of financial problems, even faced eviction. She must have applied for over 100 jobs and she never gave up. A couple weeks ago she sent in an email that she had landed a six figure job in dollars. This was someone who couldn’t even get a minimum wage job a few months before. She is also training on the side so she can be a consultant and run her own business. She is determined never to be in financial straits ever again. I am so very proud of her. Her income is larger than even the manager of the program.
Trust God and never give up on yourself!
Woooooow.
DeleteWow, I'm encouraged
DeleteWow am Encourage tooo..
DeleteThis is God's blessing
Hello iya Boys
You are not too old to go to school.
ReplyDeleteI think if you want to be a professional nurse, you must have a WAEC certificate with credit in maths, physics, chemistry and Biology. So, how do you intend to study Nursing if you are not a science student?
Stop the discouragement and proffer solutions. She can get a tutor, write her Waec or Neco,
DeleteIt's never tool late to pursue your dreams. For nursing school, you need o level certificate in science subjects, including Maths and English as compulsory. Look for a federal approve nursing school around you and enrol.
ReplyDeleteNobody is too old to learn ,if you are willing there is no issue.
ReplyDeleteDo not be discouraged. Education is still important and you can have it all
Ah! Some men can kill dreams. Instead of him to encourage you and happy you, no he is not. Poster, no one is too old to go back to school. Follow your heart if that's your passion.
ReplyDeleteYou can never be old to be a student. Maybe he is making excuses because he would be responsible for the funding.
ReplyDeleteHahaha this poster made me laugh so hard.
ReplyDeleteMy friend get up and pursue your dreams. I'm 45 and I've gone back to school to study nursing. Ive a degree in business administration and studied arts in my sec sch.
I'm married with 4kids and my last in jss3. My two children are in the university. One is studying medicine.
What I did was, I wrote waec in science subjects and wrote jamb. Got admission to a nursing school. I'm in my second year now.
So if I can do it so can you.
Thank youπ
DeleteDon't be discouraged dear, nobody is too old to go to school, if it's your dream to study, please do.
ReplyDeleteThe main thing you will be talking about is money, my dear one of my friend studied political science and did hers masters in the same course but when she married the husband adviced and supported her to do nursing you know she has to take another waec exam which she did today she has graduated and even planning to travel any moment from now so don't be discouraged, main thing na money issue.
ReplyDeleteNobody is too old to study
ReplyDeleteDo not be discouraged, you can go get it
My cousin with no science background read nursing abroad at the age of 45.
ReplyDeleteIt is all in the mind.
You can do it!
No you aren't old, let alone being too old to go back to school. But you also need to understand why your husband is objecting and try to allay his fears.
ReplyDeleteGoodluck!
You're not old at all. But how do you plan to fund your nursing school seeing the mindset of your husband towards education? Figure it out and pursue your dream.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you honestly want to be a nurse?
ReplyDeleteI've seen so many choose this path, recently, because they believe it will be easier to move abroad - since nursing is one of the in-demand jobs.
Nursing is a career that requires selflessness! There are far too many horror stories of nurses treating labouring women and the ill like they are a nuisance.
If it's a means to an end for you, then please choose a different path. But if it is from a genuine place, then please go ahead. You will need to juggle a lot between family and school, but it is very achieveable. All the best!
Go back to school dear, it's not late.
ReplyDeleteNo body is too Old to go back to School , Mayben cos of fund that was why he said you are too old ooo..
ReplyDeleteBut if you really wanna go back to school to read Nursing and the fund is available why not go ahead ,speak with him Gently..
Me self I will like to Read Nursing Nah The Fund be koko..
It is well..
God will grant our hearts Desires ππ
Hello iya Boys
LMAO at open provision store in front of your house. ππ
ReplyDeleteLife itself is a school so you're not too old. Ask God to raise men to help you achieve your goals.
ReplyDeleteNo be small destiny killer you married. Reminds Me of the "horseband Man" that refused Me working after My Service year. Fidelity bank job I got on a platter of Gold . Oh dear Lord ! π€¦π»
ReplyDeleteNever again.
Lmaoπππ Stella o! πππ
ReplyDeleteAfter MSc in clinical chemistry in naija. Moved to us and started pharmD at 31..6yrs later a Dr of pharmacy. Graduated at 37 with hubby's support
ReplyDeleteYou are young
U married destiny killer
Whether or not you go back to school, in 6 years, you will be 40 years!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you want to clock 40? With your nursing qualifications or without your nursing qualifications? The choice is yours to make.
My friend is 35 and has gone to get a nursing degree, her first degree was in Media studies.
You should keep adding value to yourself till God calls you to rest, you are not prohibited from appreciating in value (like land), as you get older.
Encourage yourself and attain whatever heights you desire.
My mum went back for a nursing degree, after two of my siblings had graduated from University, she and my younger sister graduated from University together. When she was in school, if things get too difficult for her to understand, she will ask her study partners to explain it to her daughter (my sister) who will in turn explain to her and teach her.
There is no shame in adding value to yourself, but it is a real tragedy to refuse to grow and improve yourself while you still can, simply because you are getting older.
How is 34 too old for studies? Do a thorough research. If it's something you can do,.then why not
ReplyDeleteIt's never too late to pursue your dream, find a way to balance your home and study because i know it wont be easy as a wife and if you are a mother too.
ReplyDeleteWith determination even your husband CANNOT stop you
All the best sis.........ππ
If you are not a science student nursing will hard you don't let all these motivational speakers coarse you into frustrating, better look for a kiosk to do as Stella said
ReplyDeleteYou are mean
DeleteIt will be tough but not impossible. Poster, seek for a source of financing your education first, after securing that, start planning how you will go about it, don't be ashamed to switch to something else if you eventually start and decide to. All the best.
