When you sincerely apologize you...
* Begin with the realization that you're at fault.
* Acknowledge to the person that you made a mis-step.
* Ask for Forgiveness
* Humbly offer some form of restitution(if applicable)
* Understand if the wronged party is unwilling to continue the relationship
* Learn and grow from the experience
* Pride tries to hide in False Apologies!

    Well written. That number 5 is what most people can't really get hang of. Forgiving you don't mean I want to have in my space again. How hard is that??? But the moment you made that known, they will claim you're unforgiving or immature. Must we always expose ourselves to harm just to prove forgiveness??

    Many adults really need to read and understand that number 5.

    NUMBER 5 is one of the things that some people will use to guilt trip you. i am quick to forgive but that relationship is gone, because i wont give myself to you to continue to hurt me. FORGIVENESS IS FOR ME AND MY PEACE OF MIND ABD NOT FOR YOU.

      I disagree partially with you especially if you are a Christian. Most people who are quick to cut off others even when they claim to have forgiven the other person never truly forgave.

      Yes, I acknowledge that some people who ask for forgiveness do not repent sincerely and will continue with their ways once they get the forgiveness they seek. For such, it's better to keep them at a distance.

      But we should also learn from God. If God forgives and then cuts off his relationship with us because he doesn't want to be hurt again, you think anyone of us will still be here?
