Nigerian Govt Suspends Top Correctional Service Officers Over Crossdresser Idris Okueye's Bribery Allegations

In response to allegations of misconduct involving the handling of cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, the Nigerian government has directed the suspension of several officers overseeing the Maximum and Minimum Custodial Centres in Kirikiri, Lagos State.

This follows an audio leak suggesting that Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison, was granted unauthorised access to an apartment outside the custodial centre.
Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), announced the suspensions in a statement issued Thursday in Abuja.
On Wednesday, Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo had initiated a probe into the allegations against the correctional officers.

Ahmed stated, “Following the viral video trending on social media on alleged infractions by Officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service relating to Mr. Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has suspended forthwith the following Senior Officers of the Service.”
He identified the suspended officers as Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kirikiri; and Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), in charge of the Maximum Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kirikiri.

Additionally, the Board has suspended ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, who served at the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, for allegedly escorting a convicted inmate outside the facility.
Furthermore, another senior officer, Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kuje, Abuja, has been suspended for allegedly accepting bribes on behalf of an inmate.
Ahmed assured the public that the investigation's findings would be made public once completed.

    1. This is just optics...Suspension does not mean they are out of office....They will still be collecting their salaries pending when they are done with their 'investigations'....Plus laying off public servants is different from private sectors.....Those people will continue as normal with their jobs once the uproar and noise comes down....No be Naija we dey

  5. The Issue of bribery and corruption did not start today in Nigeria and it's is not ending anytime soon it's got to Bob's turn and he scattered everywhere, I hope his happy wherever he his, these are top officials that are suspended and the truth of the matter is that the people condemning them are doing worse and as for vdm in everything you do in this life it is good to apply wisdom, he knew the voice note was too damaging he could have seriously ponder about it before releasing it like that yorubas will say ta ba ran omo ni ise eru afi tomo Je, this drama is not ending anytime soon.

    1. Babes, but we need to start somewhere. Let corrupt government workers know that the story is changing. We can't fold our hands and encourage corruption because it can't be curbed,we need to make an effort.
How you doing?have a beautiful weekend.

    2. I have to agree with you. I like VDM however he wasn’t tactful in this case. He could have approached things differently. There are too many casualties, regardless of them being implicated. This exposure will still not sanitise the system. Corruption in Nigeria reminds me of worms, you cut them and they grow back again. The fight against corruption is also not a one man show. It also requires education-less corruption=better economy, fewer oppressed citizens, reduced insecurity, and even more money for these guys! I don’t think they comprehend this. Maybe this is the angle he needs to take, just saying. To be a modern day Robin Hood, or fight against tyranny, you have to be prudent. He really should have assessed things properly before releasing the VN..hope this is a learning curve for him

    3. Tatila are you kidding me? So you prefer to protect evil than to expose them? Do you know how many people that will learn from these people if we keep covering them up all the time?

You are not brave enough to do what Very Dark Man is doing, you should be grateful that someone is doing what people are afraid of doing. If you can't do it why no commend his bravery rather than castigate him. If everybody is minding their business in this country then be prepared for a generation where morality will be impossible to thrive and your children will not be safe around people.( That's if you care about moral uprightness).

It's not easy to find a brave person like VDM in this society where people are killed for standing for a just cause. He is risking his life for this and all you care about is how to protect the interest of people who are bent on involving in immoral practices against the law of the country and recruiting more people into their evil practices everyday. Do you care about how many people that will be led astray/abused/taken advantage of by this people?

  17. I love that

He should serve his time and it should be shown as proof.

He should learn how to apply caution to his word and also to cease from blackmailing friends he’s owing.

  18. There is something wrong with him, anyways maybe that is why he thinks he is a woman. Because how can an individual come out of prison and just be throwing big parties and unnecessary show off? If he was really in prison, he'd have done some self reflection and deep introspection. He could have even done a low key birthday or non at all that is if he gone through real hardship in jail. However, he said and portrayed jail was 'vacation'.

  19. I heard when I was much younger that prison officials rekease inmates after being bribed and then replace them with innocent people to fill space. The thing has been going on in Naija for ages

  20. If Bobrisky is openly gay in a country where being gay is supposedly against the law...then one should try to imaging d person who gives him such liver is not a smallie in d scheme of things in Nigeria. As at yesterday, he was scared and claimed to be suicidal. Today. He is back to boasting. They have given him ginger that notin go shele.
The person I pity is VDM. I hope his mother is praying. I hope she read all the prophets that spoke about the danger looming around him. Truth is , this society hates truth. It is weell
