Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, on Sunday, lambasted the camp of his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike over a political diatribe thrown to his camp on Saturday, saying he would not give his kidneys to remain a governor of the state.


 Members of the Senate Committee on the Constitution Review on Sunday concluded their two-day retreat on the amendments to the 1999 Constitution in Kano and unanimously agreed to include full autonomy for local governments in the nation’s legal document. The federal lawmakers, however, expressed divergent views on the issue of state police.

 The Federal Government has handed over 64 Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, buses to representatives of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS. A lion has reportedly mauled Babaji Daule, one of its handlers at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Wildlife Park in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The Police Spokesman, Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident, saying it was reported by the Chief Security officer of the presidential library.

 Senator representing Borno South at the National Assembly, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has decried the level of corruption in Nigeria, saying it is only in Nigeria that thieves walk free in the street. Ndume made his position known while briefing newsmen in Kano on Sunday.

 The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ogun State escalated over the weekend as two factional chairmen, Abayomi Tella and Sikirullah Ogundele, were elected in parallel congresses held in Abeokuta. Tella, a former chairman of Ado Odo-Ota Local Government Area, emerged as chairman of the faction loyal to ex-governorship candidate Ladi Adebutu.

 The Technical Sub-Committee on Domestic Sales of Crude Oil in Local Currency, on Sunday, confirmed that the supply of crude in naira by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is to begin on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

 At least five people sustained varying degrees of injuries in an accident that occurred on the Ifako Bridge in the Ogudu area of Lagos State on Sunday. This is just as two cows were killed following a collision with a car in the Iyana-Oworo area of the state on the same day.

 Tragedy struck Malkaderi village in Gagarawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State after four female teenagers drowned in a pond on Saturday morning. The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.

 The Adamawa State Police Command on Saturday night rescued and arrested a young man who climbed a 33kv high tension pole in the Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area headquarters insisting that President Bola Tinubu must resign before he would come down.

 The Edo State Government has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the reinstated Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, to break into the State’s Government House on September 30th.
The Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, said Shaibu’s plan is to enforce his alleged reinstatement.
Osagie noted that Shaibu’s planned action comes despite a stay of execution appeal having been filed, challenging Justice J. K. Omotosho’s ruling to reinstate the embattled deputy governor.
In a statement issued on Saturday night, Osagie urged the Inspector General of Police to prevent Shaibu from executing such a plan.

An eight-year-old boy has tragically died after being shot in the head and face at a farm in Warcop, Cumbria.
The boy was airlifted to a hospital following the incident, which occurred at around 14:50 BST on Saturday but he succumbed to his injuries overnight.
Cumbria Police confirmed that a man in his 60s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. He has since been re-arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
