The military on Tuesday reaffirmed its determination to rid the country of terrorists and bandits, who are perpetrating violence and disrupting socio-economic activities. Service chiefs said the Armed Forces were winning the battle against banditry, urging Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies in their bid to ensure safety of lives and properties.


. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has admitted that the policies initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have increased economic hardship in the country. APC National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, stated this in a statement while replying to a former national vice chairman (North West) of the party, Salihu Mohammed Lukman.

 Mr Barkindo Mohammed, Director-General of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has described the situation in flooded Maiduguri town as “terrible.” Water from Alau Dam, which collapsed early Tuesday morning, has continued to submerge various wards in the town, while thousands of displaced residents are scouting for safer places.

Four days before the September 15, 2024, date announced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to start lifting Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, from the Dangote Refinery, investigations show that no commercial agreement has been reached to that effect by both parties. Sources from NNPCL and Dangote confirmed that the two oil firms had yet to reach a deal on the quantity and pricing of PMS to be lifted by the national oil company.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has ordered the recall of Dove Beauty Cream Bar Soap (100g) with batch number 81832M 08, produced in Germany, due to the presence of a chemical impurity. NAFDAC said the product violates the Cosmetic Products Regulation by containing Butylphenyl Methylpropional, also known as Lilial, a chemical associated with serious health risks.

 A Lagos State Special Offences Court, in Ikeja, on Tuesday, convicted and sentenced an American businessman, Marco Antonio Ramirez, to 74 years imprisonment, for defrauding victims of $1.2m, through an EB-5 visa scam and an additional $368,698.24, in fraud. Justice Mojisola Dada, who handed down the sentence, found Ramirez guilty on two separate consolidated charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

 The Anambra State Police Command has said it is in the hunt for the killers of four men in the Agu-Isioye community located on the boundaries of Enugwu-Ukwu and Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State on Monday, when the yet-to-be-identified assailants attacked the community, killing no fewer than four persons and injuring several others.

 The Nigerian naira has lost further ground against the United States dollar, with the exchange rate hitting N1637.59 at the close of trading on Tuesday. According to data from the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange, the naira depreciated by N14.63 against the dollar, down from N1622.96 on Monday.
