Chairman of Ogbete Market Amalgamated Traders’ Association (OMATA), Mr. Stephen Aniagu, was on Saturday night murdered in cold blood by unknown gunmen at the Topland Area of the state, and made away with his car.
A gory video in circulation showed Aniagu’s lifeless body riddled with bullets, with residents surrounding him in shock and disbelief.
The development has created tension in Enugu, the Coal City capital.


A Nigerian cyber security expert based in South Africa, Charles Awuzie has alleged that the Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa has renewed his threats against him.
Awuzie said that the world should hold Ekpa responsible if anything happens to him.
According to him, Ekpa started his threat against him during the last presidential election when he stood up against Ekpa’s declaration that there will be no election in the South East.
The cyber security expert made the allegation known in a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, saying he stood up against Ekpa’s declaration, when nobody did for fear of being killed.
Awuzie said that the Biafra agitator was contained and election held in the South East.

Gory images of slaughtered youths emerged on Saturday at Abuloma, Port Harcourt Capital City after gunshots rocked the elections organised by the Jonathan Lokpobiri -led Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) for the Eastern Zone. Though some persons claimed that six youths were either shot and killed or cut to death with cutlasses, others said two were confirmed dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries.

 Two days after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) refused to sign the Peace Accord for the Edo governorship election, Governor Godwin Obaseki has described the September 21 exercise as a do or die, saying the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo is the next governor. Obaseki stated this in the Oredo Local Government Area, where the PDP held the grand finale of its governorship campaign on Saturday.

. The Civil Defence Correctional Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced the commencement of the next phase of ITs 2023/2024 recruitment into the Federal Fire Service (FFS). The Secretary to the Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, disclosed this in a statement made available to the media on Saturday.

 Some offices at the Sokoto State Police Command have been razed by fire. The fire, which started around 5am on Saturday, also destroyed offices of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Chaplain, and that of the Chief Imam of the Command.

 Many filling stations in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State, have shut down due to high cost of sourcing petroleum products from third-party marketers other than the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. Investigation reveals that some filling stations in the city that sell petrol to the people at prices between N1300 and N1350 were the ones that lifted the products at costs more than NNPC control prices.

 A lone crash on Saturday, at about 2:58 pm around Saapade, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, claimed one life while 10 others were reported to have been seriously injured. The white Mazda bus with registration number GGE 858 XY involved in the accident was said to have been travelling at high speed when one of its tyres burst, causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle to somersault.

Senator Adam Oshiomole representing Edo North senatorial district  has publicly asked for forgiveness from Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin, for any past wrongs during his tenure as governor.
The lawmaker spoke during a goodwill message during Igbinedion’s 90th birthday celebration on Saturday in Benin, the Edo State capital.
Oshiomhole acknowledged Igbinedion’s support when he was elected as governor of the state, stating that he wouldn’t have emerged as the winner of the election without the support.

  1. All eyes on Edo State. The gov. says it's a do it die affair. Then I guess no reasonable or responsible person would want to stake his or her life in the name of casting any vote. let them do the abracadabra and jus announce their winner.
