The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) has expressed anger that some of those who begged to join the party ahead of last year’s general election are currently at loggerheads with its leadership. It expressed disappointment over the role of its presidential candidate in last year’s general election, Mr. Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti in the party’s leadership crisis.
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Christopher Musa warned on Wednesday that those planning to create a crisis before, during and after Saturday’s off season governorship election in Edo State should perish the thought.
The CDS said the military has a presidential mandate to ensure a free, fair and credible poll in the South-South state.

One Hundred and fifty-three days after he was declared wanted, former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello yesterday claimed he turned up at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters, ready for questioning over an alleged mismanagement of N80.2billion. The EFCC, however, denied the claims, insisting the former governor was still a wanted person.

The Federal Government has called on agencies recruiting for the private sector to adhere to the N70,000 minimum wage, warning that any deviation would not be tolerated. According to the FG, the new minimum wage is necessary to address the current economic reality, emphasising that no Nigerian worker, whether in government or private employment, should be paid less than the minimum wage.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Onikan, Adegoke Fayoade, has said that the rape allegation involving a Lagos policeman is receiving adequate attention. Fayoade, who was recently promoted to the rank of AIG and deployed to Zone 2, Lagos, is the immediate past Commissioner of Police in Lagos.

The Osun State Police Command on Wednesday said it has arrested seven suspects for selling human parts and water used to bath corpses in the state. A statement signed by the acting Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State Police Command, Mr. Emmanuel Giwa-Alade, said the suspects arrested included two mortuary attendants- Johnson Daniel, aged 43, and Adetunji Okunade, aged, 42 years.

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday announced that its troops have successfully ambushed and neutralized more terrorists, and recovered weapons and logistics. In a statement on its social media platform, the Army reported that on Tuesday, troops on a sting operation in Kaduna State, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted terrorists attempting to cross from Alawa Forest in Niger State to Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State has written to the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), alleging an attempt to compromise Saturday’s governorship election in the state. The party alleged that three staff of the electoral umpire, HOD Operation, Inoyengieni Frank Ogbise, the Head of ICT, Lawrence Akan and the Electoral Officer, EO, of Akoko Edo LGA, Blessing Suleman, are concluding plots to thwart the will of the people of the state.

Ahead of the Saturday gubernatorial election in Edo State, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, has vowed that the electorate would make it difficult for those plotting to rig the election. No fewer than 10 persons, mainly women, children and the aged, have been confirmed dead, following the acute diarrhoea disease in Yola North and Yola South Local Government areas of Adamawa State. The casualty figure might be higher as some of the victims in the hospital are on danger.
