The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the increment of corps members’ monthly allowance from N33,000 to N77,000, effective from July 2024. The increment was announced Wednesday evening in a statement posted by the National Youth Service Corps on its official Facebook page.


. The new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has said there would be zero tolerance for corruption under her watch. “All pre-election matters will terminate at the Court of Appeal. I have zero tolerance for corruption,” she said.

 The Academic Staff Union of Universities has issued a fresh 14-day ultimatum for the federal government to resolve lingering issues affecting lecturers. This is coming after the expiration of a 21 days’ ultimatum earlier by the union.

The President has also charged the Ministers not to be media shy, but go out to publicise the activities of their ministries. Addressing a press conference at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy lamented that so much is being done, but Nigerians are not aware.

 The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed an unconditional and comprehensive investigation into the allegations of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). This was disclosed in a statement signed by his media aide, Babatunde Alao, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Oil marketers are seeking to deal directly with the Dangote Petroleum Refinery instead of buying the company’s Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited. Dealers under the aegis of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria said they had commenced moves.

 The Federal Executive Council is proposing an amendment to the National Identity Management Commission Act No. 23, 2007 to allow for foreigners living in the country to be issued the National Identification Number. The FEC, on Wednesday, also proposed the Economy Stabilisation Bill to pave the way for the taxing of foreigners living and working in Nigeria.

 The Ogun State Police Command has begun an investigation into the alleged murder of 16-year-old Jamilu Lasisi in the Ibegba area of the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state. Although the police said one suspect, known as Alex Eziochukwu, had been apprehended for the alleged murder of the teenager, it was learnt on Wednesday evening that a probe to unravel the circumstances behind the incident had commenced.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday arraigned a man, Bobby Williams, before the Ikeja Special Offences Court for allegedly laundering N1,594,800,000. Williams was arraigned on four amended counts of money laundering and fraud, brought against him by the EFCC.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro, has hit out at former Italian player, Antonio Cassano for his comments on the Al Nassr star.
 Cassano had recently slammed Cristiano Ronaldo, saying the Portuguese does know how to play football.
Cassano said he does not care whether the Portugal captain scores 3000 career goals or not.
In response, Ronaldo’s sister said
“One wakes up to these things. I don’t know this poor guy. It doesn’t matter, but just one thing for him, he doesn’t know how to score 900 goals,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Imagine if he did. They say he was a footballer. I think they’re wrong, he was certainly a ball boy.”
Ronaldo has scored over 900 goals for club and country since making his senior debut.

    1. Well, they put it on their Facebook page and say it will be retroactive from July, it’s the end of September on Monday so payments may not hit until sometime in October.
