NCC Launches Device Management System To Monitor And Regulate All Mobile Phones In Nigeria

The Nigerian Communications Commission has launched a device management system which would register and regulate all mobile phones accessing communication networks across the country.

The Device Management System would act as a Central equipment Identity register(CEIR) which would track all mobile devices by gathering their International Mobil Equipment Identity(IMEI) numbers and matching them with International IMEI databases.
This would allow the NCC to monitor all mobile devices across all network operators and equally make sure that only approved compliant devices are allowed on Nigeria's communication networks.

Devices that are not registered in the system would be blacklisted, thereby making them unstable to operate in the country.
This initiative is also aimed at preventing mobile phone theft, and fraud.
The Commission also noted that stolen phones would be blacklisted, thereby rendering them useless.

  2. The same technology that creates the monitoring system are the ones that will create a back door to beat the technology. Ever wonder why crime still persist in western world despite the high technologies deployed to fight it.
