If a couple can go their separate ways to avoid bringing a sickler into the world to suffer and very likely die young, why then do people keep having children and even praying for children in the face of climate change. For context, these are some of the things predicted to happen in the near future:
In the coming years, the negative impacts of climate change are expected to intensify, with far-reaching consequences across various sectors. Some of the most pressing impacts include:
1. Rising Global Temperatures: Increased average temperatures will lead to more frequent and severe heatwaves, affecting human health, agriculture, and energy systems. Vulnerable populations, like the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions, will be particularly at risk.
2. Extreme Weather Events: More frequent and intense hurricanes, storms, floods, and droughts are likely. These events can lead to displacement, loss of life, destruction of infrastructure, and economic hardship.
3. Melting Ice and Rising Sea Levels: Polar ice caps and glaciers will continue to melt, leading to rising sea levels. Coastal communities are at risk of flooding, erosion, and saltwater intrusion, threatening homes, livelihoods, and ecosystems.
4. Agricultural Disruption: Changes in temperature and precipitation patterns will affect crop yields. Some areas may face severe droughts while others might experience excessive rainfall, leading to food insecurity and higher food prices.
5. Biodiversity Loss: Many species are unable to adapt quickly to changing temperatures and environments, leading to extinction. Coral reefs, for instance, are already under significant stress due to ocean warming and acidification.
6. Ocean Warming and Acidification: Oceans absorb much of the excess heat and CO2 from the atmosphere, which leads to warming waters and acidification. This disrupts marine ecosystems, threatening fisheries and coastal economies.
7. Health Impacts: Climate change will increase the spread of diseases like malaria and dengue due to expanding habitats for vectors like mosquitoes. Air quality will deteriorate with more wildfires and pollutants, increasing respiratory issues.
8. Water Scarcity: Regions already facing water stress may see this exacerbated, with more frequent droughts and competition over water resources, particularly in arid regions and major river basins.
9. Economic Strain: The cost of adapting to and mitigating climate change will strain economies. Losses due to property damage, reduced agricultural productivity, and increased healthcare costs will take a toll, especially on developing nations.
10. Migration and Conflict: Climate-induced migration is expected to rise as people are displaced due to sea-level rise, droughts, or extreme weather. This may lead to geopolitical tensions and conflicts over resources in affected regions.
11. Proliferation of bugs: There will be an unprecedented number of bugs and pests which will be present in and living in human habitats because their own habitat will be destroyed by extreme weather events.
Bearing the above in mind, why would anyone think of bringing children to suffer in the next few years? It is already happening, think of the recent unprecedented floods and droughts in some parts of Nigeria, the unprecedented hurricanes in the West, the unbelievable turbulence of air travel among many other wild issues. By the way, extreme famine is going to happen very soon as agriculture cannot survive the new heat levels.

ReplyDeleteMy friend stop there!!! you don’t love her let alone so much. If you are a Christian, show me where it’s written genotype issue is a ground for divorce? Even under the Marriage Act, it is not a ground. Even if you don’t have enough faith that some of us have that you would not produce sickly kids, at least medicine has advanced to a point that you can be assisted not to have sickly kids. If you really love her as you claim you would have considered medical option.
