The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, on Friday sealed the popular Fabsi Table Water factory situated in the Kubwa Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The commission, in a post on its official X account, said the development followed a complaint by consumers alleging consumption of expired sachet water containing microbes.
The post revealed that a subsequent investigation uncovered significant violations of consumer protection regulations, stressing that the company failed to provide crucial product information, including production dates, expiration dates, and batch numbers.
The commission further stated that Fabsi Table Water lacked essential compliance records necessary to ensure product safety and quality for consumers.
Although the company claimed a two-month shelf life for its products, FCCPC insisted that the “absence of production and expiration dates renders this claim unverifiable”.
“The company attributed the omission of this critical information to printing challenges, a claim the FCCPC deems unacceptable.
“Accurate and complete product labeling is a fundamental requirement under applicable regulations.
“The FCCPC has temporarily suspended operations at the Fabsi Table Water production facility and summoned the company’s management for further investigation”, the post added.

ReplyDeleteThe one that was caught sometime ago where filling the satchet water from bathroom.
Jeez😲😲
DeleteThey should have shown pictures of the products with the release. There is simply no excuse for playing with the consumer’s health.
ReplyDeleteThey have told u the name of the brand, for God’s sake it is water, if they snap picture and send to u a million times you can’t see anything with ur naked eyes except ofcourse you have microscopic eyes. Certain things are only seen under the microscope.
DeleteNot everybody is literate, they need to see the photos. I wasn’t asking for the pictures for myself, I was thinking of those who could not read who my need to see warning symbols with the pictures of the products.
DeleteBut if they can’t read how would they read the name of the company on the sachet? Boya how else are they supposed to know the difference of that water and any other water? Showing the picture would confuse them the more because in plain sight they would see that nothing is wrong with the water so why would anybody tell them not to buy it?
DeleteBv Chardey Alade, is this the pure water company where you work?

ReplyDeleteMy colleague, no matter how broke he is, will never buy sachet water in the office. He buys two bottles of water daily and that's what he manages till we close for the day. Me I drink oo. The one in my area, I kind of trust it.
ReplyDeleteIt's better to boil your water, filter it if you can buy a table top filtering water system than drink satchet water

Instead of me to drink water; I rather boil my tap water and drink, if I run out of bottled water of a particular soda brand! I don't take risk with my body; as I hardly visit the hospital! I trust God for my divine health always.
