I watched the video of a widow who was complaining that a few days after her husband passed, their laundry guy brought the husband's dry cleaned clothes, but was told the man had died. He insisted on getting his payment. She was so angry at the audacity, and asked him to go to the mortuary and collect his payment from the dead man.....
ReplyDeleteOk, first off, the man is justified in asking for his payment. The problem is the timing. He didn't show empathy at all. Oga, someone just died. Haba!! ๐
However, the lady sounded entitled and brash in that video. Cos let's be honest, if someone owing her husband millions, came to console her, and paid her the millions, she will wipe the tears with left hand, and collect the money with right hand.
That's why I love some families, especially Hausa Muslims. When a relative dies, they announce that anyone who's owed by the deceased should come with evidence, and get paid. This is very commendable!
Debt no be better tin. But we also don't know when we'd die. May God help us all.

DeleteThe dry cleaner's boy brought the clothes and was informed of the man's death, he went back to tell his oga and the oga still sent him back to collect the money, the grieving widow had every right to go off on them. Families normally pay off debts of their loved ones before burial but no sane person should be insisting on collecting #3500 two days after the death when emotions are still very high.

DeleteThe greatest cruelty is our casual blindness to the despair of others. The laundry man has no empathy bone in him at all. Money is not the root of all evil. A lack of empathy is. It will take him nothing to come back when the atmosphere must have been less tense, to come ask for his money. But he had to do it then at the heat of the moment. That's not a nice attribute.
DeleteAs for the widow, I can't really blame her much. We process grief differently. But I wish she had responded to him differently. A compromise could be reached. Who knows if the money was the laundry guy last resort to survival as well. Even if she won't pay all, I expect her to be sensible to give the man something even without him asking.
Well, they both lack emotional intelligence. The issue is something that can be resolved amicably but they both went about it the wrong way.

ReplyDeleteOne day, I met an old classmate. We had not seen each other for about 30 years.
When I saw him again, this time at a hotel lobby, he wore simple clothes. I felt touched.
He walked up to me and was glad to see me again. But deep within me, I was not impressed with his status compared to mine, I couldn't hide it.
We exchanged contact details, and I could see the joy in him as he collected mine.
I told him I would drop him home in my brand new Range Rover but he declined and said he had already called for his car, a 2001 Honda Accord.
I invited him the next day for lunch at my house. A part of me wanted to impress him, to show off my success while another was to discuss opportunities and possibly help him.
He drove to Parkview, where I lived. He looked impressed with my house, one I had taken a heavy mortgage to acquire and thereafter we had lunch. He told me he was into small business and particularly real estate.
I brought up more business discussions, but he didn't sound too interested. I asked him how I could help him. He said he was fine. I even told him that if he was interested, I could help him secure some loans. He looked at me and smiled.
He told me he would invite me over to his place soon. His old car came for him. I was grateful to God for what I have. “All fingers are not equal," I thought to myself.
Two weeks later, my wife and I went to see him in a remote area. Initially, my wife was reluctant to go because she was not impressed with the man's status to warrant our visiting him in his house.
I was able to convince her that we were close friends in college.
We saw the estate. We asked for directions to his home. Those leading us spoke of his name with deference.
It was a simple but lovely home. A 4-bedroom bungalow. I saw 4 cars parked in front. We entered his house. It was simply elegant, he welcomed us warmly.
Lunch was well served, his wife calls him Papa Onos.
During lunch, he asked about my MD. He said they were friends. I saw a company gift on one of his tables nearby. That company owned about 38% shares where I worked. He told me he owned the company. He also owned the Estate.
I did not know when I called him, Sir. I was in awe of him, too.
I had learnt a lesson in humility, a Big one. Appearances are deceptive. He noticed my discomfort.
Driving back home, I was very quiet. My wife was humbled and extremely calm. I could perceive the thoughts in her mind. I looked at myself. Living on loans, heavy loans, and showing off while someone who pays my salary is quite modest and living a simple life.

There's someone less gifted, less intelligent & less competent than you currently living the life you hope for simply because they took action & you didn't.
The same thing could be said for the country you're from.
By using your country to justify being broke, you're actively choosing to live inside an illusion.
As long as you speak English and you know how to use the internet, all your excuses go out the window.
Before I move on to the next step, I really want to hammer down on this point.
If you're broke, you're broken.
And if you continue to cope with reality, you will continue to stay broken.
But the moment you snap out of it and admit it's your own fault you're broke, that's when you can start your journey to make big money.
Step two is playing to your position.
This means that if you're broke, you can't be a little princess that feels too good about working a job.
Entrepreneurship is great and we will go into that in future threads.
But if you're broke, the first thing you need is money.
You can start working a side hustle and becoming an entrepreneur after that.
Now, the best work to get is one where you learn a skill in the process.
I always advise getting a job where you learn a skill, like a sales job, where you basically get paid for learning sales.
And that skill can help you make millions later.
But even if you don't get a sales job, just make sure you have an income coming in as soon as possible.
Listen, when it comes to getting a job, it's not about your resume.
Your resume is meaningless garbage.
What matters is your hustle.
Don't look at a job interview as a conversation while hoping to get hired.
Instead, look at it as an opportunity for you to show the employer how much the company would benefit from hiring you.
Let it be known that you'll outwork anyone and help the company make more money.
That's what an employer wants to hear, not what's on your resume.
If you approach a job interviews like this, it's very hard not to get hired.
Step three, live unbalanced.
Now that you stopped coping with reality and you got your first income stream, it's time to start living unbalanced.

A lot of people will call me extreme for what I'm about to say, but you need to make big sacrifices.

No pleasure and no fun activities.

Be prepared to not see any of your friends if they're not helping you get to your goals and stop mindlessly scrolling on social media.
The person you're watching on social media would never be watching you if he was broke himself.
So wake up to reality.
This period of your life will pass, but only if you make the right sacrifices right now.
Meaning that you need to be extreme and unbalanced for now, because you are in an extreme situation.
An unbalanced life means you work two jobs if you have to.
Once again, don't be a little princess.
Play to your position.
The problem with most people is that they either feel too good to work a job or live just comfortably enough to not recognize the extreme situation they are in.
They may live with their parents and not see how broke they really are.
If you live at home, that is an advantage because you don't have to worry about where your next meal comes from or worry about bills.
However, if you take that blessing for granted and just indulge in comfort, that blessing turns into a and you will regret that decision sooner or later.
Step four Skills haunting
Working more and making sacrifices is important, but it isn't enough.
The last thing you need to do to actually get financial freedom is hunt skills.
Because even though there's nothing wrong with working a normal job, it's not going to make you wealthy in the long run.
The thing that is going to make you wealthy is a valuable skill because skills are priceless.
Now, if you're really smart, you'll combine step four and step two by making sales your job.
Sales is one of the most useful skills out there, but there are other useful skills to learn.
Things like editing, marketing, and copywriting.
You need to start hunting an evergreen skill down, meaning you learn a skill that was useful a decade ago, is still useful today, and will remain useful a decade from now.
Now, for some reason, all the broke people with the broken mindset hold back on this step.
Once they start making money, they spend it on garbage but won't invest it on themselves.
They won't invest in webinars, coaching, or online courses.
Instead, they'll call everything a scam while they remain mediocre themselves. Pathetic.
I've invested so much in myself and acquiring skills and I will continue to do so for the rest of my life because no one can take those skills away from me.
Even if I lose everything I have, I can build it back up.
Listen, if there's anything worth investing in, it's not some crypto coin which you have no control over, but it's investing in yourself.
The coping mechanism of broke people is truly fascinating to me.
It seems like they talk the most, call everything a scam, but self-reflect the least.
If you're broke, something clearly isn't working, so humble yourself and take the four steps I just shared.
After that, we can move on to bigger things. ~ Bambulu 2.0

When someone is selected for something good among many, he/she is enjoying the favour of God e.g Esther was selected among several other beautiful ladies that were qualified to be the queen (Esther 2:15-17).
Ruth was a foreigner and a widow but had favour and married Boaz and became the grandmother of David and great grandmother of our lord Jesus (Ruth 2:2)
Favour is God's tool for getting you to the places, people and purposes.
In John 5:2-9, there was a multitude by the pool of Bethesda, Jesus came there,saw a man who had been there for 38years He went to that man, healed him and left the place.There were several others.Divine favour singled out that man for a miracle.
Luke 4:27, There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha, only one was cleaned! How many? One! Out of the many, one found favour.
When help is made available to a man at a time and from a place he least expected, he/she is walking in the favour of God.

ReplyDeleteYesterday I went to the market to buy yam, you know some people believe most people selling yam at that yam market "belong" . This woman has been my customer for long, so on getting to her shop she was eating and she said I should dip my hand inside her pocket and bring out money for her child, immediately I put hand I felt a kind of sensation from my head to my foot and I shouted " blood of Jesus" up to 4 times and I told her to bring the money herself, the woman looked at me and dip hand inside her pocket and gave the child the money and I walked away,I didn't get myself till some minutes later, I knew she probably wanted to do something but he who is in me is bigger than hers
