😌Growing up, I think best advice my mum ever gave me was ”Never allow motherhood prevent you from pursuing your dreams”.👌
ReplyDeleteAnd she didn’t just say it. I saw her actually live my example. My mum bagged her degree while I was an undergraduate ( she juggled work & school & made loads of sacrifice including denying herself some luxuries’ if you know what I mean).I recall we both wrote our projects around the same time😁
Because she was determined to rise to the top of her media career she made loads of sacrifices which paid off in the end.
She became the first female director at her office. I saw her direct live programmes, lead a team of men💪
What helped her, you may ask?
Ist was the determination to succeed even as a mum. She sacrificed a lot nurturing my brother and I while we were kids & kept the dream alive.
She had a great support system in my late grandma; who would step in when mum had to work night shifts or come back very late.
She also had a lot of ambitious goal-getter friends whom she looked up to and helped one another grow.
She realised that it was important that she had an identity aside from mum because she would someday have an empty nest hence the need to achieve purpose.
You might say she was lucky to have all the support & you won’t be far from the truth.
However, even if you don’t have any support, it’s important you find one or simply inspire yourself to grow.
Keep nurturing that dream even as a young mum with (babies) to care for. Dont rush it. By all means, enjoy the season of motherhood but while at it, don’t forget to also nurture those talents that make you uniquely you.
I know it’s hard😩🤦♀️But sacrifices have to be made mama💕
Dont get me wrong, you don’t have to be a career mum or stay at home mum if you don’t want to, but by all means remember that mommy is just one of the many hats you were.

DeleteMy mum started going to school in my daddy's house. She literally started from JS1 in marriage. Got married at 18. Didn't go to school before then cos my grandfather believed training girls as waste of money.
She was pregnant with all of us while schooling, night school. With my dad barely present, as an offshore worker. She was also selling drinks. My dad hasn't blown then
She finished secondary school, went to college of education. Wasn't satisfied with an NCE, went further to the University and graduated with a 2.2 from English and literary studies department. She retired as a principal from a government secondary school in 2017. Got her pension December 2022. Kept it in fixed deposit and died 2023, not touching the pension.
She's my biggest hero and mentor in this life.

ReplyDeleteI'm not feeling fine and a colleague's mom introduced me to a man that will treat me, she said the man charges 70k but she has begged him to collect 50k from me.
ReplyDeleteI called the man and introduced myself and he asked me if I've been told about the price which I said 50k and he said yes.
When I reached the man's place yesterday, after our discussion, he asked if I'm aware about the price and I said 50k again, the man said it's 60k, I told the man that the woman said 50k and the man even affirmed it when I called him on phone, he said he thought I said 60k, after everything,he said 55k which I agreed and collected his account number and promised to pay as soon as I have.
When I reached work, I told my colleague about the price and she said I shouldn't have agreed to pay 55k, because her mom said we will go there together and she told the man that I'm her daughter, that's why he agreed to collect 50k.
I called her mom and told her everything that transpired between the man and I and she promised to call him, she called me back and told me that it's 50k I should pay the man and I should transfer the money to her own account instead of the man's.
The man called me after some minutes that he didn't know I come from the woman, that she had begged him to collect 40k, that I shouldn't let anybody knows he's collecting 40k from me.
I'm thinking if I should just send the 50k to the woman's account without letting her know that I'm aware the man is collecting 40k instead of 50k, or I should pay the man 40 direct.
The man said I still need some treatment after that, which will cost me 20k or 25k depending on how the thing goes which the woman promised to price again, because according to her, I can't pay up to that amount.
What is this man, a doctor, herbalist or juju doctor? Be careful least a pool of problem becomes an ocean of problems.Be careful before they rip you off your hard earned money!

Anon 14:25, it's sad reading this. May God send you help to carry out the surgery. You can get it cheaper elsewhere, that 400k is too much, seek for a second and third price in other hospitals. We can contribute for you to do it. I will personally drop 50k.
