    1. Caring for family has been a joint effort of husband and wife from time immemorial.
The wholly kept women were only found in Kings Palaces in the olden days.

The modern wholly kept wife was introduced into most parts of Nigeria by the colonial administration and collar job culture.

The Early collar workers imitated the colonial administrators whose wives did not work, or the wives of collar workers could not find work in the towns. So, they stayed home.

Go to most parts of rural Nigeria till today. Most wives and husbands work to provide for their families.

A well trained married female professional income earner today who does not contribute 50% or more to her own household is plainly being wicked to her children in today's world where children need to be comprehensively tooled to succeed. Even if the husband can send the children to top schools, the woman should add her 50%+ to ensure the children attend better top schools if scholarship is not available to the child.

  2. You see this comment right here is the reason when a woman is earning more, she starts maltreating her man.

Pls Ladies, stop listening to these internet bandits sent to destroy homes and relationships. Every home and marriage is different. If you can afford it and it brings peace, split bills.

  4. Doyin, it's all started when we women started preaching Feminism, and we couldn't separate feminism from gender specific roles too. Splitting of bills 50/50 is not an African thing, I beat my chest on that because I have interacted with people from the 80's and 90's/. It's more of a western thing and am afraid we are stuck in between accepting it and letting it go. Overall, whatever works between partners is fine by me. 50/50, 70/30, just don't be consumed and overwhelmed. It's fine!

    1. You are lucky too. You may be bringing more, which is done to keep your home happy. Do what you can for your loved ones if you have it and don’t listen to others. Our parts are different.

  11. Doyin try relocate abroad with hobby, both of u now get jobs & u dump every responsibility to him alone, while u use urs to buy make up & personal feel good acquisitions. Except ur hubby na Dangote, Adenuga or Otedola’s son, u don’t even need to contest being taken care of solely by him, otherwise, e no go eazy as u dey preach am so.

    2. If you meet a man/husband who really demands and enforces his "headship" of family, you will not stay long enough with him to let issue of bill splitting arise in the marriage.
