The hunger protests, which rocked the country from last Thursday, appear to have lost steam following the police crackdown on the organisers and the protesters, many of whom are currently being detained.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Zonal office, on Tuesday, reportedly invited some officials of the Ogun State government in connection with an ongoing investigation. The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development in a phone conversation with our correspondent on Wednesday.

 Former local government chairmen in Rivers State, on Wednesday, accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of sponsoring the Tuesday attack by hunger protesters on the Port Harcourt house of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. While warning that Fubara did not have the monopoly of violence, the ex-LG chairmen threatened to mobilise their men to equally unleash an attack on Fubara’s properties.

 Nasarawa State Government has deployed health workers following the death of five children within 24 hours in the Gidinye community of Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The children, who were between the ages of five and 15, died after complaining of stomach aches, vomiting, and purging on Monday and Tuesday.

. Osun State Police Command on Wednesday paraded members of an inter-state armed robbery gang based in Lagos State but carried out robbery operations in the state. One of those arrested, Solomon Michael, while responding to questions from journalists, admitted participating in three different robbery operations with the gang, serving as the driver of the group.

 The 16th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has said intelligence failure led to the attacks on public and private properties during the #EndBadGovernance protest in the state. The Emir, who spoke on Wednesday, said the security agencies were notified of the plans for the attacks on some of the properties days before it occurred.
