Suspected Boko Haram terrorists struck on Friday August 30, 2024 in Yobe State, attacking an Islamic school boarding facility where they dragged out three students from bed and shot them dead. One other was wounded.


 Six people died and three others were injured on Friday morning in an auto crash involving two vehicles – a Sienna bus and an unmarked truck, at the Ogere stretch of the Lagos – Ibadan expressway. The accident occurred when the Sienna bus rammed into the truck.

. Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State has said his administration is ready to pay Kebbi workers the N70,000 minimum wage. The governor disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, when the leadership of the state council of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) paid him a courtesy call at the Government House.

 At least 7 persons have been declared missing while several houses and farm lands have been submerged by flood in Mashegu and Magama Local Government Areas of Niger State. It was gathered that the incident happened in the early hours of Friday.

. Late legendary singer and actress, Onyeka Onwenu, has been buried. Onwenu passed away on July 30, 2024, aged 72. The funeral service took place on Friday at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos.

Amid prolonged delays in the appointment of ambassadors to oversee Nigeria’s diplomatic missions, the Federal Government disbursed an approximate sum of N14bn to no fewer than 16 foreign missions in July 2024, findings revealed. Nigeria has 109 missions: 76 embassies, 22 high commissions, and 11 consulates globally.

 Men from Zone 16 of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested a fake medical doctor, Doubara Esamasuode, operating without a licence in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. In a statement signed and released on Wednesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Emonena Gunn, the arrest was described as “a display of unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring public safety.”

The Federal Operations Unit, FOU, of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, on Friday said it confiscated prohibited items and other smuggled items valued at N8 billion in July. Speaking to newsmen in its Ikeja office, Customs Area Comptroller of the Unit, Kola Oladeji said that over 70 seizures were recorded within the period.

Bandits on Thursday night invaded a community known as ‘Zone A, back of Primary School’, in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, killing a man identified as Felix Chuks and abducting his entire family. It was gathered on Friday that the bandits invaded the area when residents were sleeping.
