Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, hosted a delegation led by former Kaduna State governor, Nasiru El-Rufai at his Asokoro residence in Abuja. In a statement, AbdulRasheed Shehu, Special Assistant to the former vice president, said the visit was to formally request the hand of Atiku’s daughter, Hafsat Atiku Abubakar, in marriage to the family of Kashim Imam.

. Four persons, two women and two children, died when their engine boat capsized on the Benue River in Taraba State. The victims were traveling from Mayoreneyo town in Ardo-Kola LGA to Belengo town in Karim-Lamido when the boat capsized.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is reducing its importation of crude from the United States, taking more of Nigeria’s oil for processing, a report by Bloomberg said. The report stated that the 650,000 refinery is set to import just over four-fifths of its feedstock from domestic sources in the third quarter. That compares with less than three-quarters in the prior quarter, according to tanker-tracking data and information from traders.

 The Chief Magistrate of the Iyaganku Family Court in Ibadan Oyo State, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a tenant, Kareem Mojeed, for allegedly defiling his landlord’s seven-year-old daughter. The court ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

 Some youths in Lagos State thwarted an attempted kidnap of a car dealer on Ebute Igbogbo Road in Ikorodu Local Government Area on Tuesday. It was learnt that the suspects, including Taiwo Olayinka, Azeez Sodiq, and Saheed Moonstruck, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

The Federal Government has confirmed that over four million children in the Northeast and Northwest regions are malnourished.
Mrs Ladidi Bako-Aiyebusi, the Director of Nutrition Department in the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, made this known on Wednesday at a five-day meeting with nutrition experts and stakeholders in Keffi local government area of Nasarawa State.
NAN reports that the ministry is holding the meeting in partnership with Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) and other nutrition partners on a strategic advocacy policy for nutrition in Nigeria.
The meeting, which started on Tuesday, is expected to end on Saturday.
Those participating in the meeting are nutrition experts, academia, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) among others.
