ReplyDeleteThe cost of books is crazy! And unlike our time those days, the schools now insist you buy from them, and then the kids write in the books, so it's impossible to pass it on from 1 kid to the next.
Now that a new session is about to start, you calculate new uniforms, books, sport wears. Let's not even discuss the fees these days. E dey rise like fuel price. Crazy! Even the schools that were hitherto "cheap" or "affordable", no really cheap and affordable again ooo.
God forbid a situation where many poor kids will have to stay home because their parents can't cope with payments anymore. Or children having to meet their mates privately to learn on their own, because they can't afford to be in class with them. Kai! 🥺
This again, raises the plea for parents - Give birth to the number of kids you can ADEQUATELY CATER for. Birthing is not a competition. If na 1 you fit handle well, born am, zip up!
Ultimately, may God help us. E con reach out turn to be parents, to give our kids the best, just hard anyhow! It is well.

My daughter's textbooks is a little over 3x the amount we paid last session. Their school is one of the affordable schools o. I don't blame schools, they have teachers to pay, etc. This government just came and destroyed everything in one year. After paying all that and getting things they need, one will now start thinking of how to transport them everyday.

I know some kids including my child who have stopped going to school for now. Some of them now hawk wares for their mothers. Even if they attend government school, they still have to buy books which are now very expensive in bookstores, also some have to pay transport fare if the location of the free government school is far. Education is now so expensive.

A closed mindset says, 'I believe I know all there is to know about this subject,' and an open mindset says, 'I'm grateful for what I know, but I believe there is more to know.' But a word of caution! Just because a speaker says something doesn't mean you should accept it without question. A leader who seeks to honour God won't be offended when you question what they say. The Bereans 'received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so' (Acts 17:11 NKJV). Whose teachings were they checking out? Paul's, the author of half the New Testament!
