Wife Begs Judge For Divorce Over Husband's Inability To Provide Food For The Home

A housewife, Kafayat Ajoke, has begged an Ilorin Court for divorce over her husband, Aminullahi Ibrahim’s inability to provide food for his family.

She also sought custody of the two children and N100,000 monthly as maintenance and feeding allowance.
She said, “I noticed that my husband changed after he lost his job one year ago.
“He does not provide enough money for food for the family,”
The husband, Ibrahim, agreed to the divorce application, but said he could only afford to give his wife N2,000 monthly for the maintenance and feeding of the two children.
“I don’t have a job, so I don’t have money. This is the main reason my wife wants a divorce,” he said.
The presiding judge, Idris Etsu adjourned the case until July 30, 2024 for judgment.

    1. Once had a court case where the guy “couldn’t provide”
But when he was taken to court and court threatened him with jail , he found a small job and started paying something

Some men lose a “good” job and then refuse to take on other jobs that can at least pay the bills

  20. Oh please! 1 year ago & he cannot find menial labour to be augmenting what she can get? He's lazy with 2 children in this economy? Check how many needs you satisfied for your child in 1 day, them multiply that by 365 days that he has not provided; for 2 children and 2 adults. Plus school fees and houserent. Aha! She needs him to be shaken up abeg! Too much complicity on his part.

    1. He may truly be lazy but he may also be depressed. Many ppl’s identity are tied deeply to their work and losing it really shakes them up. I remember during the financial crash of 2008, so many Wall St types who lost their jobs committed suicide. Men are expected not to have mental health problems or seen as weak if they do.

We need to develop societies where ppl have easy outlets for support beyond family when they are in low places. Hospitals are not enough and in countries where hospitals cost money where can ppl go easily for mental health support. I honestly don’t know the perfect answer but ppl are pushed to the limit in some places, being asked to be strong and resilient in places where things cannot easily be fixed. Even the labourer jobs are not easy to come by in the present economy and so many ppl are being exploited daily in the name of cheap labour. We are so low in our evolution as a specie, technology has given us the illusion that we are so advanced and we are not.
