Skitmaker Brainjotter Says He Did Not Male Any Profit From Viral Gwo Gwo Ngwo Challenge

Skit maker Brainjotter (real name Chukwuebuka Amuzie) has reacted to the viral report about the potential exploitation of Mike Ejeagha’s 1983 hit song ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo’ which recently received renewed attention after the trending dance challenge he originated .....

The video has been viewed 29.1 million times with over 30,000 comments on Instagram, and 19.6 million views with over 23,000 comments on TikTok.

The 93-year-old Ejeagha and his song became a subject of interest for netizens, with goodwill pouring in. Brain Jotter offered him N2 million.
For some, it was a generous sum. While many accused Brain Jotter of copyright infringement.

However, reacting to the accusations on Tuesday in a viral video, he said, “For those thinking we ripped him off or making money from this whole thing, I understand your concerns and they are very valid.
“I appreciate the fact that you want him to get value for his hard work, which is very valid, and I want you to understand that you are doing something good
“At the end of the day, no dime was made from this song by me, nothing like that. The N2 million I gave him was from my personal hard earned money. I did that just for humanity and not for profit.”

    4. Go to his IG page and listen to what he said. He said that he didn't make a dime from it, as everything went to Mike Ejeagha production studio. He even gave him 2M from his own pocket. He said that the smile and tears of joy he saw on him is his own profit.

  2. Yes I believe him. If you have been following brainjotter, you'll know he's kind and compassionate. He always help people on the low... No noise.
I watched the video and saw how the family of the man were very grateful to him for reviving a song and making it go viral after 41 years. They even asked him to ignore the naysayers on social media.
Indeed, with God, all things are possible.
There's absolutely nothing God cannot do.
Just keep your hands clean in life and trust God in all your doings.

May God keep us alive and healthy too, to eat the fruit of our labour

  5. Nigerians should please leave this guy alone what has he done wrong, do you know how many use Ebenezer obey and ksa songs for skit and the legends are not bothered about it, the man's family should be happy that he made people that were not aware of the man or his song to now know about him, me am enjoying the challenges.

  6. I wonder how he'd make profit too that's except ig or tiktok paid him

  7. Complainants would have preferred he didn't give anything. Assuming he didn't recognize the man now nobody will think of accusing him of giving the man little from the profit he made. There are many other sounds that has been used to creat contents, should the people all trace the original owners of the sound to start compensating them for using their sounds?

Maybe Ifeoma IfyIvy of Psaquare should go and do something for the owner of the song she used last year 'billionaire onye ji cashi, chopping and spending the cash' and many other people because brain jotter is not the only person that has trended will someone's song

  13. Brain jotter has been a blessing, the video was so emotional.
Behind his skit making,he is allowing God to use him. Can't forget how he blessed a physically impaired lady at his show.

As for those complaining, they should keep on wailing.

So happy for Pa Mike, his time met him alive not in the grave.

Thank you Brain Jotter for making the song go viral, don't mind naysayers. I loved this song as a kid, my dad used to play the cassette. I'm so glad it's viral and Pa Mike is recognized.

  23. A lot of us didn’t even know the man or the song before Brain jotter. He has now made the song popular, given the man a good sum of money and opened gate for others to bless the man financially again but no, a lot of Nigerians will still choose to complain!

  25. It seems many people don't even understand what intellectual property theft is.
Well, Brain jotter did well by visiting the man and giving him monetary gift, as long at Pa Mike is happy and not bothered about him using part of his song without his permission initially has already exonerated him wether he made profit from it or not. May God help us in this country.

    1. Intellectual theft??? How many people dancing on tiktok and IG to other people’s songs have been accused of intellectual theft?

      Delete
    2. There was no intellectual theft here. These people are registered with labels that take care of these things. and any song they use, it's deducted automatically by the platforms its used on and sent to the owners.
As a matter of fact, no social platform will approve a song that is not yours. Except you are small and ìn significant. They will always flag such posts down. That's why you see people especially celebrities giving credits..
Brian jotter deliberately revived this man's music and that's highly commendable. The man didn't pay him a dime to promote it (as most artists do) he did it of his own freewill, still came visiting with his team from lagos, (as expensive as flight is ooo) and still dashed him 2 million.
Abeg give the guy his flowers

  26. Most Nigerians do not understand one deep aspect of money making - that is, making more money while not making cash. Nigerians are always quick to count the quick cash of other people and wanting quick cash. That is one reason Nigeria is how it is.

In this case, Pa Ejeagha, his record label, and BrainJotter has made and or will money.

BrainJotter explained fully well and believably to SM money making laymen like me that he did not make and could not have made money from the views. But he has made goodwill capital that Nmillions of advert expense may not have bought for him. More people who like at his line of business now know him. And the real money (the type people cannot help him calculate because they won't know) is on its way to him.
