President Tinubu also promised to find ways to assist the private sector and the sub-nationals to pay the minimum wage.
He announced the decisions at the meeting held with leaders of TUC and NLC on Thursday in Abuja.....

It's a good development. Kudos to federal workers, most states won't pay this.
ReplyDeleteMy joy knows no bound. I just registered for NYSC today π
DeleteInflation ooo
DeleteThis is a very good and fair development. I hope there’s a way to enforce this in the private sector
ReplyDeletePrivate sectors that are struggling to stay afloat, even majority of state governors will not even pay it. Meanwhile many state governors have not been able to pay 18k minimum wage then, not the 30k .

Congratulations to all federal employees and side eyes to states employees. This is a welcome development.
ReplyDeleteSo after all the delay, it's 70k they settled for????
ReplyDeleteAn amount I spend in a day. Rubbish.
How do they expect a family man to take care of his family with a meager 70k? We need an uprising in this country.
The question is who'll start it?
Get a side hustle civil servants.
They got a lot of fight. Remember quite a number of governors boycotted the meetings with them, refused to show up and engage in the process. Some were adamant they couldn’t go higher than 30k. We all know the 70k is a far cry from their original asking amount, but what they put those ppl through….whew lawd!
DeleteHow much are the workers producing in a month? What is the GDP of the country relative to debt? How will small and medium scale enterprises pay the 500k labour wanted to take from them? How many millions of house helps, security men and drivers would have become destitute to satisfy you? Has been the strength of the naira the past 30 years not been going downwards due to reduced production? Are the power and petroleum sectors not largely unionised? Try not to take sides in a fight between identical twins.
DeleteOmo dem go manage the 70k oh. They just have to do a lot of planning and there will be nothing like stay at home mum in such families. Also families should birth the 2 children they can take care of. They will birth 6 instead and be looking for who will train those kids. Hopefully before one year has passed they will increase it to 100k. Like PP said, the greedy governors really opposed it, even the 30k they are still owing salaries. God go help us oh.
DeleteWay to go π
ReplyDeleteWell done Presido
Nice
ReplyDeleteWow, thank God
ReplyDeleteWill pensioners also benefit from this? Please don't mind my ignorance
ReplyDeleteWow
ReplyDeleteNiceπ
So NYSC allowee will now be 70k.
ReplyDeleteDuring our time it was 19k π
The price of everything will also increase, trust our people. Thereby reducing any gain whatsoever. May God help Nigeria, we are in a big mess. The incessant attacks on farmers on their farmland was the foundations of our present day food insecurities. The government need to address that issue.
ReplyDeleteI really hope price of things don’t increase. As it is now, 100k can never last me a week, 200k will be manage , I wonder how people earning 70k will cope with price increase in the market, make things just dey as dem dey for now I beg dem.
DeleteNice one π
ReplyDeleteIt's okay
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the Civil servants of the Federal Republic.
ReplyDeleteNiceeee
ReplyDeleteHello iya boys
NLC did the best they could under the present economic and global climate. Kudos to them for being the voice of the voicelessπ
ReplyDeleteGreat π
ReplyDeleteGreat π
ReplyDeleteGood news. Congratulations to everyone that dis benefits π π π π
ReplyDeleteI can't blive everyone is saying congratulations for 70k. Which is like $50 a month. Anyways most people on this blog live outside the country so e no kuku concern them. You guys should send feeding money to you family members o. Bcos the begging of money from your relatives will be very high.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I’m surprised. I was hoping they would benchmark at 100k atleast that could be fair enough. Well, if they think it is fair enough, who are we to complain for them.
DeleteIt’s not as if we do not know that 70k is low, but it is a start. Hopefully they will review it within 1year. This government has made it such that we take what we get, they have really subdued us.
DeleteMeanwhile, it is money from diaspora that has been sustaining this country since buhari era, we will continue sending to our relatives, God will not allow our pockets to dry.
The alleged reason was that president Tinubu told them that if he should accept 250k minimum wage that means he will on the other hand increase pump price of PMS.
DeleteThe Most Complex B
Okay π
ReplyDeleteNothing has changed. Tinubu played fast one on them.
ReplyDeleteMinimum wage of 30k was equivalent to $43 at N700 per $. Now that $1 is N1600, the minimum wage of N70k is still approximately $43. It is well with Nigeria in Jesus name!!!
Amen @ 11.35
