Nigeria's Girmache Shrine Where Crocs And People Live Together...

There is a traditional Shrine close to Zuru in Zuru Local Government Area. This place is a place of water surrounded by thick trees, and there in the water are crocodiles.


This is a place of worship, the local inhabitants visit this place with sacrifice and make special requesst to the shrine.
It is a traditional shrine in Zuru Local Government Area in Kebbi State where thousands of harmless crocodiles reside in a peace of water surrounded by thick trees.
The custodians of the Girmache Shrine are always in animal skin rugs - the only clothing approved by the gods.
The Shrine is believed to be Very powerful as the worshipers always say that once you fulfill your promises,special requests and pledges . It's believed that the Crocodiles living in this shrine does not harm anyone who comes to make sacrifices or special requests from the shrine
The Girmache Shrine is a sacred and respected spot to the locals of the community which has turned out to be a huge tourist spot as people visits the shrine to see the sacred harmless crocodiles living in the Shrine.

    Reminds me of my service year in Osun state. A little boy (Farouk) beheld a Mammy water emerged from the river unannounced unaware of the boy's presence.

    They were new in the area.
    The child, terrified, ran to his mother and reported, the landlady overhearing the conversation asked them to run for their lives as they would come confine him to the diety.
    following morning, the Osun cult group came around looking for the boy, thank God they were far gone.

      I believed the group weren't Osun worshippers but demons because news reached the King and he confirmed nothing of such happened after consulting with the Oracle. This further confirmed my suspicion.

  4. Even my own place they worship crocodile, you can see it in our stream or River, we don't killed it by any means,
    Whatever reason that make you to kill it, and you are being caught.
    You will conduct a proper buried for it as if your are buried a human being.
    But we're am staying now na big meat and it expensive too.

  5. I visited somewhere like this in Gambia...I even touched one of the crocodiles....there they believed if you bath with the water from the pond you will conceive. I refused to take a bath oh even though I was about 6 years TTC then...I can never give any small god any glory...

  6. We have a shrine like this in Edo state Agenebode with harmless crocodile 🐊 They have enough 'sacrifices' to eat so they rarely attack humans 😄 They shouldn't be termed harmless sha
