The Federal Government has tightened security across all the nation’s borders ahead of the planned nationwide protests scheduled for August 1. Kemi Nandap, Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS) said this in a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Kenneth Udo, on Saturday in Abuja.


. The home of Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah in Nnewi, Anambra State, was unusually quiet, on Saturday, as people trickled in to confirm the news of his death. Ubah, the senator who represented Anambra South District until his death, passed on in London.

 The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, has advised state residents against attacking protesters. Fayoade gave the advice while addressing traditional rulers and community leaders in Eti-Osa, Ibeju-Lekki, Epe and Lagos Island local government areas during a town hall meeting on Saturday.

 Minister of State Police Affairs, Hon Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has appealed to Nigerian youths to ignore the proposed nationwide protests, arguing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his team are working hard to discharge their duties towards building a strong and prosperous future for everyone.

s on Saturday said it would call for the sack of Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mele Kyari, if what they described as the “attempt to destroy Dangote Refinery” does not stop immediately. The deputy spokesperson of the House, Philip Agbese, stated this in Abuja.

The Rivers State Police Command says the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has redeemed the N100m bounty on the head of a notorious cult leader, Gift Okpara, aka 2Baba, who alongside his gang members killed a Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent Bako Angbashin, in the Oduemude area of the state.

 The Police Command in Lagos State has arrested five persons, including a couple, over their alleged involvement in selling a two-month-old baby. The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests on Saturday in a statement in Lagos.

. Men of the Lagos State Police Command, Ilupeju division, have arrested two suspects, Kelvin Louis (23) and Onyedikachi Paul (29), for vandalising railway perimeter iron fence along Oshodi-Agege Motor Road. This was made known by the Police command on Saturday.
