The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has declared that the crime rate in the country is on the decline. Addressing State House reporters after meeting with President Bola Tinubu in company of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the IGP said the president charged them to continue to synergise in order to bring crime to the barest minimum.


 The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued revised guidelines on the management of dormant accounts, unclaimed balances, and other financial assets in Nigerian banks and financial institutions. The new rules aim to identify dormant accounts and reunite them with their owners, establish standardized procedures for account management, and create a framework for reclaiming warehoused funds.

 A 40-year-old woman, Lydia Aji, has been arrested for killing her husband with an axe in Borno State. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Kenneth, the suspect had arguments with her deceased husband over the alleged theft of a goat by their 13-year-old daughter, Rachael.

 Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have again intercepted another batch of seven containers bearing 1,229,400 bottles of codeine worth over N9,835,200,000 shipped from India at Onne ports in Rivers State. According to a statement signed by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Friday, the latest seizure was made on Thursday.
