A nationwide power outage was experienced in Nigeria on Saturday following a system collapse at the national grid. Emeka Ezeh, the Head, Corporate of Communications at Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, disclosed this in a notice.

 The four months’ respite enjoyed by the people of Garam, a community in Niger State, was interrupted on Saturday morning when bandits attacked the community, kidnapping a pregnant woman and four other persons. A resident of the community told journalists that the bandits arrived in the community through the bush path around 3 am on Saturday, and went to the house of the victims to kidnap them.

 The Police Command in Rivers State has cautioned the public regarding potential cult-related activities across the country on June 7. SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson of the command, disclosed in a statement in Port Harcourt on Saturday that a large number of Black Axe cultists were preparing to mark their Founders’ Day.

 A man identified as Femi on Saturday in Osogbo, Osun State, jumped into the Osun River, not long after he complained about the hardship facing him. A source close to the scene said Femi stood on the Gbodofon Bridge located along Osogbo/Gbongan Road around 10:30 am and jumped into the river.

 The special anti-kidnapping operatives of the Delta State Police Command deployed to the Ughelli axis have neutralised a suspected kidnapper in a gun duel during which three others were arrested and are presently in police custody. The Command said one AK-49 rifle was recovered by the police team from the hideouts of the hoodlums.

 The Bauchi State Police Command has said that no less than 2,077 suspects were arrested in connection to various crimes committed within and outside the state within one year, between July 2023 and July 2024. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Ahmed Wakil disclosed this in a press statement on Saturday.

 The Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it arrested three members of a robbery syndicate terrorising the Ikot Abasi village in the state. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday.

In efforts to enhance civil-military cooperation in Zamfara State, the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General TY Lagbaja, on Saturday, urged the people of the state to provide vital information on bandits’ hideouts to the military for prompt response. The COAS made this appeal through Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, the Commanding Officer of 1 Brigade, Gusau.
