May her soul rest in peace, she should have probably sat down to sing. KSA and Sir Ebenezer Obey usually sit most times when serenading thier guest they hardly stand for sometime or move to tables. I am so sorry for the loss, all is well

ReplyDeleteA true legend!! π
Isaiah 40:6-8 KJV
ReplyDeleteThe voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: [7] The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. [8] The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Yes o
DeleteMake everyone fear GOD
Psalm 103:15-16 KJV
ReplyDeleteAs for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. [16] For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
Eeyah. She just wanted to do what she loved doing. Singing beautifully!

ReplyDeleteLife! One minute, we're here, the next minute, we're gone. May God rest her soul.
ReplyDeleteShe must have exacted so much energy in performing that night, and at her age, its not too advisable. She just wanted to give her best but it would have been brief. May her soul rest in peace!

ReplyDeleteOnyeka Onwenu!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis woman sha. You see her in music video today and next day she has a BBC documentary, next she is an author, and boom a politician. Oh then, she is also a journalist. And a musician, with her own albums. Have you seen her give speeches.. very bold and clear like Chimamanda.
She did it all...
And she started when it was very difficult for women to strive in these spaces.
What a courageous life π
Used every talent, every opportunity life gave her. There was nothing she couldn't do. What a blessed heart!
One of a kind.
Go well, my lady. Fare well.
You forgot to mention she was an actress too.
DeleteWell said. Rest on Lady Onyeka the legend

ReplyDeleteYour own mother of sister did not "make you to love women?"

ReplyDeleteIje Uwa! May her soul rest in peace. Amen
ReplyDeleteRegular exercise is very important to keep the heart healthy. The heart will collapse if it's suddenly stressed after a long time, especially those that in a particular age bracket.

ReplyDeleteMay her soul find eternal rest.
Nigeria needs a HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. Not clinics called “hospitals”. Many of those dying in π³π¬ may still have lived extra ten or twenty years in a better society. Yes, it is inevitable that we will all go but many are dying unnecessarily in Nigeria. She slumped, I don’t know the details but the emergency response system & its connectivity to the nearest world class hospital that is equipped to handle such emergencies is absent in Nigeria. A colleague’s husband slumped in the morning 3 weeks ago, she called 911, within a few hours they did a triple bypass surgery for him, because he had a 100% blocked coronary artery on one side. In a country where first response and Trauma centers/hospitals are not well coordinated and fast responding, he would be gone at just 51. His wife was grateful to God, we need God even when we set up good systems as all power belongs to him. However you cannot ignore your part & pray alone as a society. Faith without works is dead. Looting money meant for healthcare system is murder as far as God is concerned.
ReplyDeleteThe time between when the wife saw him and the ambulance was 5 minutes and they started treating him inside the ambulance & the nearest adequately equipped hospital had been radioed that he was coming. The triple bypass surgery was done immediately. This was about three weeks ago. He is back at work with stents (artificial valves) in his heart. Onyeka attended Wellesley College, the school Hillary Clinton attended before Yale. One of the most talented & intelligent π³π¬women I loved and admired so much as a young woman. I was very sad to hear of her loss at just 72. We need a lot of gap analysis to close a lot of gaps in many sectors in Nigeria but they are still collecting rice to not protest bad governance!!. In my decades here, I have never heard any siren of my governor or government officials, only ambulances that need to get a critically ill patient to a hospital with surgeons waiting to go, or firetrucks rushing to rescue and put out fires. Or a police cruiser rushing to an accident scene or to issue a speeding ticket. It’s not about individual clinics called “hospitals”. It’s about an interconnected system that is inspected & certified regularly with the best professionals to get her to a world class hospital in 5 minutes or at most 7 minutes while they rush her into emergency surgery if needed. The problem with Nigeria is that we leave things to chance & explain it away with religion when God himself is THE Master planner who strategically made the galaxies such that the sky never falls on anyone. I was telling a wealthy friend on a visit to try & get bloodwork and physicals done before returning. She did not do it. Nigeria’s bad governance affects both the rich and the poor in different ways. May her beautiful soul find rest with the Lord and may God comfort her family in Jesus Name and open the eyes of selfish greedy looters to realize that in emergencies, Europe is too far so they build a better society for all.
Thank you for speaking out, I am in so much pain, I have lived abroad for a number of years too and have also travelled to countries, Nigeria makes my heart bleed, the level of ignorance is depressing, we could save so many lives if we prevent health crises like these, and emergency responses can be better if we di the right thing, the heart is critical, intervention starts immediately someone collapses, on the spot and every second counts, put them on the floor flat facing up, jump on them and push your palms one on rope of the other facing down on their chest up and down, COUNT TO 30 BUT DO NOT STOP, if you are tired, jump out and let someone else start immediately, when you do this you are trying to manually pump the heart and circulate blood all over the body especially to the brain, once there is no circulation to those organs, death happens ! Do not panic or screen or take photos or even pray in that moment, let others pray but let one person prioritise this pumping and let others call for medical help, if this is not done within the first 8 mins, medical teams will do nothing to save that person. Let us help ourselves so that God will continue to help us. Rest in peace Onyeka Onwenu, I loved you so much and will continue to…….Uche
DeleteWhat a sudden death. But to God, it wasn't. Ma'am, let the Lord accept your soul--AMEN
