IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu Might Be Free Soon- Your View?

On June 23,2024  about 50 members of the House of Representatives begged President Bola Tinubu to order the release of Kanu.
The federal lawmakers, who identified themselves as “Concerned Federal Lawmakers for Peace and Security in the South East”, asked Tinubu to direct the AGF to invoke Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution to terminate criminal charges against Kanu and release him.

Senators from the South-East region of Nigeria will today, Wednesday, July 3, 2024 hold a crucial parley with the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, to make a case for his release.
What do you think?

  2. Releasing Nnamdi KANU is not the problem. But the problem is this:
    1. If FG release him, won't it embolden other copycats to start plotting against the Nigerian state
    2. The Nigerian government have learnt her lesson from the way it handles the amnesty programs which has made many youths still Oli bunkers, militants and still claiming to enjoy amnesty. That one of the reason they didn't want to negotiate with the book haram and bandits again. As past experiences shows a criminal would always go back to crime even if forgiven.
    3. Tinubu like every Nigerian politician would want a second term, and KANU is a rallying point for South Easterners, as such if KANU would support his ambition, he would release him but if KANU will mobile against him, he would keep him in custody until after the next election.
    4. The northerners love seeing KANU being punished and are major backer of Tinubu, as such Tinubu will only release KANU if he is sure of having south east votes but if not he would listen to the North. And the south east seems to be bent on its either Peter obi or no one else.
    5. The national council of states, comprising all living former president and the incumbent president and all living former CJN and the incumbent CJN may have to sit and decide KANU fate, as his offence if not we'll managed can lead to civil war which goes beyond Tinubu.
    6. Is KANU remorse and has decided to pursue his self determination struggle in a civil manner or still bent on using force to actualise his self determination struggle which can lead to civil war?

As such the KANU issues is more than media issues as some people think.

  6. Even if he's released, the insecurity in the East has come to stay. He cannot control the entire 5 Eastern States.

  8. I have read comments on this post but didn't see anyone saying the very most important thing.

Releasing him is one thing and another thing which I feel its the most important of it all is, will the government address the issue that gave birth to the agitation in the first place?

Until such is addressed, the agitation won't go away.
