DeleteMy mum still has this as backup, just incase something happens and her 2 gas cylinders are empty, and there's also no light to use her electric cooker.
Mummy still uses this stove to now. She is scared of gas after seeing gas explosion news in those days.
DeleteI can't use it again. The smell that fills everywhere after putting the fire off is sickening
My son saw this in a book and was asking me what it was??? We used it growing up o...I didn't have any issues with the smell...I hated the changing of the "owu" so much..
DeleteIt's called wick not thread

ReplyDelete🤣🤣 Stella Kerosene is so expensive that it is no longer economical to cook with stove...The only thing that goes up and down na cooking gas....People are now managing gas...
ReplyDeleteI used it last 4 yrs ago..
ReplyDeleteMy mum still has it...
I hate cooking with stove top... It is slow and smell awful
Kerosene is not cheap again ooo, I have a friend that said she can't use gas or electric cooker because she is very careless, so she uses this particular type of stove to cook, one of the disadvantages of using it is it's very slow when cooking with and sometimes when the wool is not long enough you will have to drag it out before you can on it..
ReplyDeleteI knew someone like that too, very comfortable o so it's not about money. Was just scared of it.
DeleteMy friend uses charcoal pot back then, also had a stove, despite receiving gas cooker as wedding gift, said she was afraid of gas.
Delete@Stella, I don't think food cooked with stove has a particular taste, except if the cook is really careless, I know of firewood taste which some people like but i don't.
I have one at home..but dnt use it
ReplyDeleteI heard 1litre of kerosene is more expensive than 1kg of gas..
One of my colleague at work is still using it
Sadly, Kerosene is more expensive than gas so I fall back on charcoal pot.
ReplyDeleteIf you see where I dey fan charcoal ehn, you go pity me, but hey! Tough times don't last, tough people do.
No more in use here. You have to be very neat,to use it,then.
ReplyDeleteIt's expensive to cook with kerosine. A lot of people are not using this stove again.
ReplyDeleteGas is cheaper than stove.
ReplyDeleteKerosene is very expensive now.
Kerosene is very costly now, majority of people are now cooking with gas.
ReplyDeleteWe used it last 3 years and we still have it but we parked it one side.
It's more expensive to cook with stove, then before we stopped using it,some of the kerosene smelt badly and to get original burner was also an issue.
ReplyDeleteGas and electric cooker ti take over.
Kerosene stove is outdated, moreover it's even more expensive than Gas.
ReplyDeleteCan't even remember last I saw it.
ReplyDeleteOld good days.😀
The stones our ancestors used🤭🤭🤭. I think most of us grew up using it. Kerosine though has made it too expensive to use. But aboki indomie still do use it.
ReplyDeleteWhat is aboki indomie ?
Delete*stoves
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't use it anymore. It has it's own risks as well. Back then, people will mistakenly put fuel inside it or lantern and vooom the fire goes.
ReplyDeleteWho dash me gas. I use student electric burner. And when there's no light, I make use of charcoal.
ReplyDeleteI'm expert in making use of charcoal.
Even charcoal does not come cheap. My neighbor that uses it complains a lot
DeleteKerosine is more expensive than gas now
ReplyDeleteNot any more, I use gas now.
ReplyDeleteThe using of this sef is more costly than gas. One bottle of kerosene is #1500 and it will dry one within seconds
ReplyDeleteArranging the thread in this stove was difficult for me. I still have it in my storage sha as backup.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember the year I used this.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter went to school last year, and the person she is staying with told her to help her light the stove, cos gas is not allowed in the hostel, and she told her she does not know how to do it, come and see how they were all laughing at her😂. She had to call me to explain how to use the stove o😂
Lol
DeleteI still get stove for house but the last time I use it should be up to 5 years ago. So expensive to use
ReplyDeleteThis kind stove if water pour inside the kerosene , you are in trouble, with frustration, e go dey burn like abiku😜

Omoh it's been ages since i saw a stove. People use gas, electric burner or even make charcoal fire nowadays
ReplyDeleteI still have it at home but no longer use it. Very stressful something. The threads are usually fake most of the time.
ReplyDeleteThank God for cooking gas! I had to get 2 cylinders to avoid using this stove completely. It's stressful cooking already, I can't add stove's wahala to it.
How time flies. I stopped using this almost 10 yrs ago.
ReplyDeleteGas is more economical and better.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer charcoal to kerosene if I am left with an option to choose.
ReplyDeleteKerosene is more expensive right now, so it's not even economical using it compare to gas.
ReplyDeleteIn my area kerosene is cheap because will produce the local one called pufire , majority till use stove.
ReplyDeleteTo me kerosene is more expensive n I hate the smell too
ReplyDeleteI have it but don't use it, kerosene is even more expensive than gas.
ReplyDeleteThe last stove I used, I parcked it and sold to maikwalabe last year. Kerosene is expensive and that annoying smell that comes out when you quench the stove with water.
ReplyDeleteWe use gas and substitute with charcoal.
This method is more expensive than gas
ReplyDeleteThis was what our mothers used to to teach us how to cook those days, it's nice but I still prefer gas, as gas is not stressful and the back of your pots won't turn black while using it unlike stove. Thank God for change and improvement.
ReplyDeleteI don't have this. I use electric cooker, gas cooker and a charcoal stove as backup when there's no gas nor light. Had to learn how to cook with charcoal this year.
ReplyDeleteKerosene is more expensive now than gas.i hate the smell of it when you blows off the fire
ReplyDeleteNot anymore...but still have it at home for remembrance.
