Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu can tell you a thing or two that has changed about Nollywood
She was asked the differences in today’s Nollywood compared to back then....
''A lot. You see, we started with VHS. So when you talk of improvement, there’s been a lot. The movie industry has improved tremendously. But, the problem is that before we used to work with time, we used to rehearse and discuss as well. When a writer brings a script, we put it on the table for people to talk about it. But today, it’s not like that.
''A lot of people who are not supposed to be producers are now producers. Wishy-washy stories every day. There are some stories you read and you know immediately this is from foreign movies. They are not relatable. People have become lazy. They don’t want to research again because they are after the money.
We no longer relate as we used to anymore. We used to go to our fellow actors’ houses and drink water but you can’t do that anymore because you don’t know who to trust. All leaves are lying down but you don’t know the one with a stomach ache.
People in our time were more careful with how they represented themselves but now everybody just does whatever they want. Today if you like, be naked, no one cares''

ReplyDeleteSo true
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with her. Most of the story lines are rubbish, most stories lack content
ReplyDeleteThat her photo is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe wishy washy stories is so true...
She's absolutely right, and old Nollywood produced meaningful and educating movies compare to the nonsense most of the new producers are churning out every week.
ReplyDeleteSo true
ReplyDeleteTruly, many movies are not relatable
ReplyDeleteShe didn't lie. Old Nollywood movies used to have substance and they actors were passionate with their delivery. Today every Tom, Dick and Harry with bleached out skin and bbl is a Nollywood actresses. Nothing concern them with skill, just to show off their bumbum and attract customers. Let's not even talk about BBN graduates and Ig skit makers that producers go for bcos of their large social media following. Na those ones dey vex me pass.
ReplyDeleteHow about the new trend of using males with fine face as lead actors whether they know how to act or not? RK and OO are in this table.
I always tell hubby whenever I see a new face that Nigerian actors are now more than we the audience/viewers. Na everybody dey act now.
DeleteIs anything wrong have more actors than viewer?
DeleteShe's right
ReplyDeleteshe is so correct
ReplyDeleteπ―π―,we are just managing the nonsense Everybody is producing now, especially some of those nonsense on YouTube!
ReplyDeleteI agree!
ReplyDeleteTrue talk mama, they were more disciplined too.
ReplyDeleteGbam
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! I mean, where's the lie? Old nollywood movies were embedded with knowledge one could learn from but these days a lot of producers just write anything that comes in mind.
ReplyDeleteMama NG looks so good with gele on fire
ReplyDeleteSo many on YouTube
There is a particular channel with same story lines everytime. I don't bother with her movies anymore.
Really good! I love it.

ReplyDeleteWere is the lie?π
ReplyDeleteShe is so right. A lot has changed. And change is constant.
ReplyDeleteShe nailed it. So apt
ReplyDeleteWhere is the lie?
ReplyDeleteEverybody is now actors. Most of the pics they post online and say actress, I have not even seen their faces on screen before.
And that nakedness part, no control at all. Infact, looks like what they feel will make the movie sell fast.
It’s like they are all trying to out do each other in this nakedness drama.
DeleteNo truer words π
ReplyDeleteEveryone now is an actor and the stroryline is mostly unrelatable.
A lot has changed honestly. Everybody is now a producer and this is why I do not even attempt nollywood movies anymore. No regrets at all.
ReplyDeleteShe is absolutely right
ReplyDeleteI agree with her, nothing but the truth.
