Saturday In House Gists - Advantages And Disadvantages Of Marrying A Last Born/Only Child

Are you married to a lastborn or even an only child? How easy or difficult is it? Are there tips you wanna share with us?

I married a last born and i know for a fact that nobody takes last borns serious and they are always treated as if they are still Babies...
My husband was always right in the eyes of his parents...Always!!!
When my mum in law was alive, she treated my husband like a small baby and inculded me in the special teeatment, it was so nice but the disadvantage is that you are treated like a baby when there are serious talks...
My mum in always had her nose in our issues cos its her last born......LOL
My mum in law is gone and my hubby is still the baby of the house and he loves the special treatment.....The advantages are more on his side and what looks like a disadvantage isnt really so...
Whats your story?
Lets gist!

  1. The disadvantage of marrying a last born or only child is that most times, the males are mummy's boy
They marry mostly for procreation, their mummy is the main wife
I cannot even think of 1 advantage

  3. Same situation… I have lost interest in the marriage and I am only there because of my kids. When I told them about divorcing daddy, they were so sad/unhappy. We have decided that a separation is the best for now. We stay in separate rooms. FYI, we are based in London.

    1. This poster, london divorcees don whisper talk for your ear, and now you think there are better options out there. My woman tried it too in the same london, the first date she tried, the ghost where them ghost am, heartbreak in 2 months. she learnt the streets are not friendly.
Better build your marriage, na chop and go them go use you do for streets. Think back at the potential that made you marry the guy, and seek to rediscover that initial attraction.

  4. Me I even think it's first born that have wahala, especially when there's a gap between further and second, the second isn't doing as well as first so some parents focus all thier hope on the first for marriage, procreation and monitoring. Last borns have that tendency to depend on parents for help but in all always ensure your parents don't interfere in your matters. Some mother inlaws are on this table

  5. My younger sister is a last born and also married a last born, don't know how it is with them but they're cool and seem to understand each other 😁.
Strange I may say but I'm a second born who married a second born 😁, my elder brother also married a first born😁. My younger brother also married a third born😁 we didn't plan it oh, but it just aligned like that.
    Kinda weird lol 😂

  6. Anybody that marry my mom's last born will so enjoy him, because my mom didn't treat him as last born, infact he was the one everybody always sent on errands when he was a child, except he went to school or he wasn't around, we sent her the smallest to the biggest errands and he didn't refuse to do anything till now that he's adult, if you need his help for anything, he will willingly do it if it's within his power.
He knows how to do house chores and started cooking at the age of seven for all of us, the only thing was, he was very slow in doing domestic works as a child and my mom didn't allow him to breath until he caught up and became smart, even if my mom was shouting at him, all of us including him would be joking that he's the last born, my mom would be like "and so what, is he not eating?" he was a blessing to us because we imagined if they didn't give birth to him, only God knew what would happen in terms of taking errands, he's even well mannered than his elder brother, and it's the same mom that trained us, that one just doesn't send anybody from childhood, if you like shout, scream, or threaten him, na you sabi.

    1. Yes, many last born are used by the elder ones for errands especially when there is a wide age gape between the last born and the elder ones. But you see only sons and especialy when they are the last, it will be difficult to find the one that is not lazy and spoilt.

    2. You guys abused and enslaved the last born in your family and you are bragging about it. Shame on you! You guys used him as a domestic help. I am sure he always wondered if he was adopted.

    3. Anon 18:44, Sh*t the f*ck up, nothing concern you, why did you comment in anon mode? Shame on you too, coward.
Yes we sent him on errands, and he can never think we adopted him because we showed him and still showing him love till now and all of us are very close, we covered up for all other things in terms of house chores, his major errands were buying things or getting things for us, the fact I said he knew how to do house chores and cooking from age seven doesn't mean he was doing it every time, or doing everything and we just sat down doing nothing, that was how our mom trained all of us, or you would preferred us to spoil him so he will be useless to himself as most of you trained your child, especially the last born, you lack comprehension.

    4. @Grateful soul you DID abuse your brother. He is probably dealing with low self esteem, people pleasing behaviours and weak boundaries.
I pray God gives him a wife that teaches him how to say no to all of you. And then you can come back here and call her a “wicked woman” because you no wan see the negative side of what you are doing to your brother. Users!!!

    5. Anon 17:40, he's dealing with low self esteem in your evil and dumb brain, and for your information, he's a very kind and calm person, and that doesn't mean he's a pushover or people pleaser, if you don't find his problem, he won't give you, deal with it.
If your own aim is to cause a dysfunction among your husband family, that's your problem, my brother isn't f**lish like you, and he will never marry an evil woman like you.
He can never say no if he's in position to help, because we're always there for one another in everything, physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially. So get Lost and look for a husband family to scatter according to your plan.

  7. I am married to the last of 6 kids, no disadvantage whatsoever. Na beta person through and true, none of the stereotypes of last borns, to Jesus be my glory.
My mum in law wanted to try pushing her choices on us, and me through him at some time, but as saw that her son will make his choices independent of her and stand by them 100%, she learnt to stand down. Once my husband and I have discussed something and made our decision, that's it, any other innuendos or side talks will be filed under advisement document.
My husband's siblings too all respect his choice, I'm guessing it's all because he showed having a mind of his own quite early, and was never dependent on any of them really, even when he could have.
I'm grateful for the peach I enjoy.
Counting down to our 6th wedding anniversary in 3 weeks.🙌🙌🙌

  9. First or last I think it is the personality that matters many first born do behave like last born especially for the family is rich;on the other side many first born carried the weight of the family especially if they are not so rich ,in Yoruba olori ebi is a problematic position especially if you are not rich, who will listen to you.

  13. Stella, I was married to first son of 9 children( 6 boys and 3 girls then). It was hell. He was the one carrying the burden of 6 of them. My dad in law then of blessed memory was a very nice and Peaceful man,but his mum was terrible. She worships money. I wasn't agreed that he was assisting his younger siblings. He was always sending money to them and pretending as if he wasn't. When it was time to take responsibility in home as husband, it always ended in stories and quarrels. The marriage was like hell. Full of pain. Thank God we divorced.

  21. I am a last born. I am enjoying it. My brothers take good care of me. My husband is enjoying it too. But mind you, I am not lazy and entitled, I am very hardworking and I always make sure that I channel whatever I get from my family to good use. I have my own business and I am also a Virtual Assistant. So it is not all last borns that are lazy.
