This action was taken due to Nigeria Government’s refusal to increase the minimum wage offer of N60,000. The strike was announced at a joint press conference by NLC President Joe Ajaero and TUC President Festus Osifo.
They said the government’s representation in the negotiations was not serious, and they felt abandoned because the government remained adamant about the N60,000 offer.
