A Kano State Shari’a Court has remanded one Nura Musbahu and his fiancée, Fatima Lawal, for stealing kayan lefe (wedding gift), belonging to his sister, Aisha.
The love birds were dragged to the court sitting at Rijiyar Lemo in Fagge LGA by Aisha and were charged for stealing and accepting stolen items.
 Kayan lefe is a Hausa tradition of buying expensive gift items by a groom for his bride and formally presenting it to her by his family.




One person has been confirmed dead, six seriously injured and 30 trapped when a mine site collapsed in Galkogo village of Shiroro local government area of Niger State. The site is said to belong to African Minerals and Logistics Limited.

 President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economic, Wale Edun, to calculate the cost implications of a new national minimum wage. . The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the approval and release of a list of 10,000 successful applicants for recruitment into the constable and specialist cadres of the Nigeria Police Force. PSC said the successful applicants spread across the 774 LGAs in the country.

. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission has said it would mandate international oil companies to supply crude oil to the Dangote oil refinery. The spokesperson for the NUPRC, Olaide Shonola, said the commission was intervening to ensure the local sale of crude to Dangote and other refineries in the country.

 The House of Representatives has expressed its support for the legal action taken by the Federal Government against the 36 states of the federation to enforce the autonomy of the local governments. In an interview on Tuesday, the deputy spokesman for the House of Reps, Philip Agbese, said the House was in total support of reforms that would uplift the well-being of our citizenry.

 International credit rating agency, Fitch Ratings, has projected that the Nigerian currency, the naira, will end the year at 1,450 to the United States of American dollars. This was disclosed by the Director, Sovereigns, at Fitch Ratings, Gaimin Nonyane, during a post-sovereign rating webinar on Tuesday focused on Nigeria and Egypt.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has approved the extension of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Edo and Ondo states scheduled to end Thursday, till Sunday June 9, to enable more eligible persons to register for the off-cycle governorship elections in the states.

Bandits have abducted no fewer than 26 persons in Niger State communities. It was gathered on Tuesday that the incident occurred in Mashegu and Shiroro Local Government Areas of the state on Sunday and Monday.
