The health Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fahd al-Jalajel, has disclosed that 1,301 pilgrims died during the 2024 hajj. Speaking on state television, Jalajel said 83 percent of the deceased made the pilgrimage without the necessary permits.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have discovered a snake-guarded shrine used to store illicit drugs at the Igor community, Benin City, the Edo State capital. Mr Femi Babafemi, the spokesman of the agency, on Sunday in a statement noted that the operatives detected a specially constructed large hole storage in a wall covered with wallpapers and fetish objects.

An early morning fire on Sunday razed the headquarters of the Christ Embassy Church located in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State. The police, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, other emergency responders and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LATSMA, were able to put out the fire.

The Prime suspect in the abduction and murder of a student of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike lkwo (AE-FUNAI) in Ebonyi State, Mr Maxwell Okeke has been arrested by the police.
The prime suspect, Ogobuchi Uhuo, a native of Ohankwu village, Ndufu-Alike, was arrested in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital after the police mounted a manhunt for him.
According to a source who confirmed the arrest, Uhuo has been a terror to students and members of his community for a long time.
Okeke (the deceased) was abducted and killed by unknown persons early this month.
According to a student of the institution, the university community became worried after he was declared missing.
The source further said his decomposing body was later found near a river in the community.
The institution’s management had in a statement through the Public Relations Officer, Elom Iyke Ubochi fingered Uhuo as the prime suspect in the abduction and killing of Mr Okeke.
