The Court of Appeal in Abuja has rejected an application filed by the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, seeking the court’s leave to challenge the order that outlawed the group. In a judgment, the Court of Appeal upheld the argument by the lawyer for the Federal Government, Oyin Koleosho, that the application, which Kanu’s lawyer Alloy Ejimakor filed on behalf of the detainee, was inappropriate.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday said ex-Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello, who is accused of N80.2bn fraud, had ridiculed the Nigerian justice system by failing to present himself for trial in court. The Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba on Tuesday sentenced Inspector Ubi Ebri of the Nigeria Police Force to death on a murder charge. The court, presided over by Justice C. D. Diai, convicted and sentenced the inspector to death for killing a phone dealer, Mr. Onyeka Ibeh, in Asaba.

State governors have called for the refund of state governments’ full equity investments in the estimated sum of $10 billion in National Integrated Power Projects that are under the management of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
The 36 state governors under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum said the Federal Government should refund an equitable rate of return on their investments in the power plants.
They made the demands in a recent document submitted to the Ministry of Power, titled, ‘Development of the National Integrated Electricity Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan Policy Recommendations by State Governments’.

The Ondo State Police Command said its operatives arrested a suspect, Yusuf Adenoyin, who was allegedly caught in possession of eight dry human skulls.
The incident, according to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, occurred at Isua-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.
The statement said the suspect was arrested when some officers of the command attached to the Police Safer Highway Patrol at the Isua-Epinmi checkpoint were performing their duties.
