MKO Abiola’s Son Abdul Mumuni Reveals There Is Bad Blood With Brother Kola Over Late Father's Properties

MKO Abiola is the symbol of Democracy in Nigeria and respected but his household is not united and the money he left behind may have torn his children apart as one of his son explains that their big Bro Kola has taken all the money for himself...

Interviewer Asked; Are you in a good relationship with Kola?

Abdul Mumuni Abiola said;"I don't think we are really... the last time I saw him he said and I will quote his words "do i want to do fire for fire" and i asked him,if we do fire for fire will you eat? because the idea is not about ....look the whole Nigeria is in fire you are asking me if i want to do fire for fire, the idea is that I'm already in fire so let's do it as long as something positive will come out that I will be able to take care of my family and people who just need help in general so yeah we are not in good terms."

Interviewer Asked;Do you blame him for the manner in which things have gone,do you think that thr legacy of MKO Abiola would have been properly sustained better than it is right now?

Abdul Mumuni Abiola Responds;"Yeah I definitely do because he was in a pivotal position especially after the whole crisis he could have been a voice,he could have been a strong voice of true democratic values and he could have..he chose not to. Apparently at the time,my father was still in jail he was having relationship with Babaginda's daughter. It's just sad,I was actually was even a little bit pleased that my father did not get to come out and see what his first son has turned out to become and I'm sure my father won't be pleased about it so I am not pleased and it's not because...is like I wake up in the morning and my phone is inundated with text messages of people saying I need help,I need help. How many people can I help? and if I want to help somebody i have to first be able to help myself it's important to do things in the right way and I think that's just my issue on this."

Interviewer Asked;Have you been able to speak to Kola Abiola about some of these grievances that you have?

Abdul Mumuni Abiola Responds;"So I told brother kola when I got back to Nigeria I said the monies that are outside the country I don't want to disturb you with that one, that is for you eat it do whatever you want that is your business but the ones that are in Nigeria we will die there."

Interviewer Asked; So you didn't vote for your brother?

Abdul Mumuni Abiola Responds:"I told him, i said you are not going to use my money to do campaign, give me my money first then you can go and campaign."

Interviewer Asked; Do you think he owes you anything?

Abdul Mumuni Abiola Responds:"He owes me a lot, well first of all if he just listens to what my father said in the Will and does what he is rightfully supposed to do like every other person has done,he is not the first to be the son of a..... we have Folawiyu's as an example. These people I think we have lost so much, there's so much properties that my father had in this country that we can never get back because people have sat on it and they are using it to take care of their families. But the issue here who is to lose? It's our money that was used to buy these things those properties now,you cannot build them today with the kind of money you are going to spend, I'm talking about the Silo in Kwara State,Lafiyagi. 20,000 metric tonnes Silo with a 10,000 hectares of land, how much do you want to pay for that land now? You know it's sad that your father had reached a certain level and you cannot continue from where he stopped. I would like him to explain to me where exactly he has gone with this direction,it's like you are going down a dreaded road and you are seeing the signs and you still keep going... I don't understand this, and this is 30 years down the line so it's not like i waited a year after my father died and making this accusation. I'm saying people have died in these 30 years, I'm talking of Abiola's children who could not do or buy medicine just to take care of themselves, this is sad."

  1. Very eloquent guy..Speaks very well...Guys go take a listen...It is sad that they could not follow in sustaining Abiola's businesses and other possessions....I happened to see some of his land possession in a community I served close to Abeokuta like large expanse of land...

I pray they resolve their issues and forge a united front

    2. Lol... Don't mind men, thy don't know the devastation they leave behind when they tow the path of polygamy. Instead of concentrating to raise on family and raise children that will take after your values, you go around spreading your seed everywhere. The childdren have no real emotional connection to you their father and no love for their siblings. What then is your gain?

  6. So pathetic
Polygamy and war on wealth, properties and what not.

If Abiola made a will then they should all be sorted accordingly.

  9. A lesson to those stealing for generations unborn. Your children may never enjoy your loot. By the third generation, they may become ordinary citizens.

Generational wealth can only be sustained by a strong legacy and family tradition built on hardwork passed down to the next generation.

  10. This is always the end result, they die and leave trail of problems and issues. This is why I jump and pass polygamy. The selfish man would just die and leave issues lingering forever.

  11. Polygamy has grave consequences if we like it or not, greed is part of what is happening here,if Abiola left so much behind why can't they just share it to reach others?

  19. Kola is not behaving as the senior. I remember Mumuni, and the brother ( I can't remember his name) we're still young when their mum Kudirat died. It was Hafsat their elder sister that was vocal at that time. Kola is just mean. He started by saying the Abiola children should use their money to do a DNA test if they were sure Abiola was their dad. I'm surprised 30 years down the line, they're still in this tussle. God will help them.

  21. This is not good and I hate greed with a passion BUT if my mom gave birth to me for a man with even 10 or 6 children, SHE shares the blame! Simbiat Abiola was the owner of the money Abiola started with that multiplied so Kola and Simbi’s children felt the moms of at least 40 of these children were equally greedy. If you are a Gen Z you won’t know the legendary MKO and women who loved money. That said, Kola should take care of his half siblings but hold WOMEN responsible for marrying out of greed without thinking of their children! It’s still happening and some are praising them! The blame goes to such women too.

  22. Naijas worship their moms after God, some more than God! A mom who was part of MKO’s harem or similar situations is wicked and greedy or even lazy. Clarion Chukwura married him, left for Shina Peters but kept her day job and her son for Shina Peters is doing great! She got out of the harem fast. This uniquely Nigerian notion that women are perfect in relationships is not global, it’s a Nigerian thing. I’m a Gen X, older woman who voted for MKO though aware of his weakness. My upbringing and background could just not comprehend the hopeless & laziness that would add me to such a harem but they all flocked to his Ikeja mansion to benefit from his generosity. Simbiat, Kudi and Doyin the former Mad of Concord were the “Islamically recognized wives” and I’m not sure their children are suffering. Lesson: Young girls, easy is not the BEST, life is a marathon.

    1. Fantastic advice. Their mothers are culpable. MKO has 4 children with his own full brother's wife for God's sake. He started an affair with her and moved her to the UK when the shame of the first pregnancy was to much. How can the end of such a man be peaceful?

    2. 1. Clarion Chukwura was never married to M.K.O Abiola. She was married to one of his brothers.
      2. Clarion met Shina and had her son for him long before she married Abiola's brother. Her son was already at least 10 years old before that marriage.
It is important to refrain from falsehood as one tells whatever story one wants to tell.

  23. It’s Kola’s payback to the wives. All his life he hated the other wives. Like his mum he hated late Kudirat so he’s indirectly dealing with her by showing her children. Like Kola said his mum invested her money in every business his father had so the other women have no right to any part of his wealth. I feel those who passed DNA should be looked after but he thinks differently.
