Minister Of Finance Wale Edun Submits Proposal Of ‘N105,000 New Minimum Wage’ To President Tinubu

The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, on Thursday submitted the estimated cost implications of implementing a new national minimum wage to President Bola Tinubu......
Officials in the know of the matter reported that Edun submitted a proposal of N105,000 to the president as the new minimum wage.

On June 4, President Tinubu asked that the finance minister, Wale Edun present a new wage template within two days but as of the morning of June 6, which is two days after the declaration, the Labour Congress noted that there was nothing new yet. There is a disagreement between organised labour and the government. While organised labour is asking for a wage of N494,000, the government said it would pay N60,000.
However, few hours later, the Finance Minister, Edun, along with the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, submitted the cost implementation of the new minimum wage to President Tinubu in his office at the presidential villa in Abuja. Edun speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with the President, said, “There is no cause for alarm.”
SaharaReporters had reported the disagreement between organised labour and the government over the implementation of the national minimum wage. While organised labour is asking for a wage of N494,000, the government said it would pay N60,000.However, following the declaration of an indefinite nationwide strike – which commenced on Monday and was relaxed for one week – the government committed to pay above N60,000.

  1. All the challenges and inflation going on in this nation is basically because of greed by the politicians. As long as these Senators and Reps keep earning the alleged publicized amount, there will continue to be unrest.

  2. This is a bad move, whether you believe it or not. The price of everything will go up especially in the south. 50 naira will be like 50kobo

    1. Now that they haven’t added salary of workers, inflation is alrdy up by 42%, isn’t 50 naira worth less than 50kobo? At least where i live, you can’t use N50 to buy anything, as in anything. Even biscuits are now 100 naira. So pls change ur line of argument.

    2. How? Let these state governments start paying ppl a living and realistic wage. How the hell is earning $20 US a month decent for any adult, tankless someone with children. $20 US can’t even buy a decent lunch. The exploitation of workers must stop. Switzerland is damn expensive but their citizens are living well. Just because a country is expensive doesn’t mean the quality of life will be shyt.

The government is empowering every person who wants to be educated the funds through interest fee loans to get educated whether in a trade or academic. So let everyone rise up and take advantage of it and position themselves for the best life possible

    3. Really? A senator takes home 29million every month and you can't find the reason for the inflation in that figure but its 100k minimum wage that will cause inflation. Is your economics for me.
