The Deputy President of Nigeria Labour Congress Political Commission, Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, disclosed this in an exclusive phone chat with The Punch.
Ndubuaku said that the labour team was compelled to reduce its demand to ensure the Federal Government meets up with the arrangement.
Unfortunately, he expressed concern that despite their shifting ground, the FG is stalling the negotiation process.

These ones are still playing...
ReplyDeleteUna no go negotiate some figure that is realistic ba? It's like labour's plan is to drag this till Tilubu's end of tenure because how dem think say agbado go pay 500k minimum wage. Abeg ask for 100k
ReplyDelete100 ke? Abeg dem just bring their shoulders down ask for 33,250.
Delete33,250 for this economy? Fear God oo or are you not in Nigeria? Four tiny fufu wraps is now 500 naira. Fufu you will eat and it's as if you no chop at all. Imagine if you get only two children, how will 33,250 sustain you and your family for 30 days? Fear God biko.
DeleteWhat they should ask for is free education, free healthcare, affordable transportation fees for students etc. If they make minimum wage 500k, a loaf of bread will become 50k or more. Who remembers when you could buy a loaf of bread for 6 digits in Ghana before they dropped the zeros in their currency? That's what will happen.
DeleteThese ones just want to do so they would say they are active. Una never still put 100k in place you are talking of 500k. Mtcheeewww
ReplyDeleteUna still dey play....
ReplyDelete$350/mth is a fair request. What is the cost of renting, home ownership today? Schooling a child or medical care? Clothing, food and transportation? The amount is not luxury pay, nobody is going to get rich off it, it’s simply to give ppl a quality of life that is humane.
ReplyDeleteThis conversation of currency to dollar is stupid.
DeleteWhen organized labor becomes a political party’s affiliate, this is what happens. They know even 500k is not feasible and all these gra gra is to sabotage the Tinubu govt and not because they have the interest of workers at heart.
ReplyDeleteNo mind them
DeleteIf give agrees and then starts owing them salary for months on end, the heir eye go clear. How is 500k sustainable? Instead of asking for govt farms, free education etc so that their salary can go further.
DeleteBe realistic. Which one is this madness. At most 100k
ReplyDeleteThey're just being unrealistic.
ReplyDeleteThey should stop being unrealistic and focus. Hope they're aware that they're other incentives that comes with that minimum wage
