Actress Adamma Luke Alleges That Colleague Jnr Pope Refused Life Jacket Because It Was Dirty

Actress and movie producer Adanma who owns the movie Junior Pope was shooting before he drowned has claimed that the later actor was given a life jacket but he rejected it.

She has been under heavy backlash after  the death of actor Junior Pope and  others after their boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State while returning from the location of her movie, ‘The Other Side Of Life.’

Breaking her silence since the incident, Luke Adanma claimed that Junior Pope was provided with a life jacket but rejected it because it was dirty.
Speaking in a video message shared via her Instagram account, she said: “My director was on life jacket, Emeka the DOP was also on life jacket. There was still one life jacket available, I don’t know who took it.

“My producer manager said they saw life jackets hanging and they took them. He said he even asked the late Friday to take one to Junior Pope but Junior Pope said it was dirty so he didn’t take it.
“Those with life jackets survived the boat mishap. And they also told me that when they were in the water trying to survive, Junior Pope was also there asking, ‘Is everybody okay? Hope everybody is fine?’ They said they even threw a gallon to him to use and hold himself which he was holding but all of a sudden they didn’t see him again.
“It was when they came out that they noticed that he was no longer there. They said divers came and reduced some of them while other divers were still there trying to rescue others.
“I said what could have caused this accident? They said they don’t know but TC was standing on the speed boat rigging bell.”

  1. Jnr Pope's death pains me, because it could have been averted. Common. And even when he was rescued, he wasn't rushed to the hospital, or even given a CPR sef. Instead his body was carried from one point to the other (wasting precious time), and then the hospital was the last resort. Like seriously.

    1. They rather took him to a mortuary, where he was rejected.
Then they took him to the river bank for sacrifices.
wasted precious time before they thought of the hospital.

When Trump calls Nigeria a shithole country, people cry "racism"!

How can people in the 21st century reason like medivial peasants living in the dark age?

  6. I don't believe you madam! Let's even say Pope John rejected his, I'm sure the others wouldn't have minded, but there were only 2 people wearing, meaning only 3 life vests were provided for a boat carrying up to 8 people or more.
And what's with the 'TC was standing on the boat talk?
Did you provide enough life jackets to go round or not?

  10. Adanma you don't have conscience.
If he refused to wear life jacket, how come his last video he posted, he was lamenting about risk they take to entertain viewers, that who does that and called your production?
Even you was seeing without a life jacket on the boat. Leave trying to pin it on someone. You are a victim of our general carelessness. A simple apology is okay.
Rest in peace to all the dead. Amen.

  11. How do I stop seeing all these stories about this man? I shut myself out of Facebook, Phoenix news and Opera just to avoid the story but it keeps flashing on my face.

I feel so pained and deeply hurt remembering how he was begging saying he's the only onetone to raise his kids. To think he just built a new mansion for himself and shared a touching story on how he his family had lived on a self contain before building that house.

Even Me self don begin dey fear for my own life self. I'm just weak and tired of everything happening in Nigerian.

    1. As of today, Nigeria is your Jerusalem. You will always be named by and connected to it. Speak and believe good to experience same. No one has left the USA for the countless terrorist attacks, gun violence, natural disasters and other challenges they have. Just days ago, a similar accident occurred there where a ship crashed into a bridge and claimed many lives. What you'll still hear from the average citizen of that country is "is God bless America".

Your contribution to your nation and those around you is what you should increase, not always plotting your own nation's destruction while benefitting from it for decades.

    2. Anon 22:22 you've just made my day. God bless you for the comment. In spite of the fact that we are going through a rough patch as a nation and the spirit of patriotism is waning, we should keep hope alive, believing that one day, our nation, like the Phoenix will rise from the ashes and be great again. Anon, have a beautiful day.

    3. Very true. I don’t post bad news about Nigeria on my social media. One because I have foreigners follow me and want to paint my country in a good light. 2. I don’t want to feed into any negative energy . I believe part of the reason Nigeria is bad is because of the countless times Nigerians have spoken negatively about it and how we refuse to see the good in it. America too started from nowhere and they continuously deluded themselves into saying they are the world power. The rest of the world followed in that delusion and now it is a reality tht no one can fault. Power of the tongue and having positive thoughts will change so many lives if Nigerians learn to stop with the negative thinking and talking

Tc said that life jacket was not provided, the boat driver also said the same thing and you are saying a different thing,
Even if we believe that Pope rejected the jacket cos it was dirty, what of the other actors and crew members, what was their reason for rejecting the jacket also.

  13. People who put their infant children in cars without using car seats are the one hypocritically calling for inhumane sanctions against this woman. AGN should state what guidelines she broke.

She didn't insist on the boat being overloaded. She didn't put earphones in the ears of the guy controlling the boat's direction. She was not on the shore placing the bodies that were brought from the water on their back. She didn't prevent the performance of CPR.

This unfortunate incident is a humbling reminder for an entire country and all industries to revisit the issues of safety and prioritise it over pay.

The adults who travelled on that boat should have gone in turns and not overloaded it. They should have prioritised their personal safety over neatness at that time. They should have focused on the journey and gotten the bodies in recovery position on time and prioritise CPR and hospital, knowing the risks. The are things red cross taught in schools in the same Nigeria but we see it as a waste of time.

Most of those calling for " justice" have still not googled CPR or how to do it. They have not used their phones to obtain life saving information on everyday occurrences like first aid for choking on food. They have no contribution for the mourning families except their usual internet noise. The AGN has no single guideline handbook on staff safety but they are keen on banning someone for something that happened off set. Who was banned when people were robbed or kidnapped at location?

Knee jerk reactions don't solve foundational problems. Let us take issues one by one and address them without bias.

  15. She Adanma Luke can open her mouth at this point to say anything! Nobody wants to take the blame. Meanwhile lives have been lost! It is an unfortunate event which I don't want to happen to anybody. I will repeat what I said in the last post about this!. Whatever profession you find yourself protect and use common sense. Be observant about trips and situations. We only have one life to live.

  23. My dear, social media is not the place for what you are trying to do. The only thing you should be doing now is to express sorrow and empathy with the mourning families. Putting out good memories of the deceased persons in writing and cancelling the production completely, with no intention to ever resume it. Sitting up there blaming the victim is a wrong move in this moment, even if what you state is true, the timing is wrong! The only ppl you need to be giving answers to are the investigators.

Nobody from the general public is anxious to hear from you or see your face right now. Your face and voice is just going to irritate most ppl and that is the honest truth. You are in the midst of a disaster of epic proportions, one with multiple deaths. I am not sure what you think this message is going to do when so many are in pain.

Did you even think to provide grief counselling to the survivors, other talent, and crew members? Maybe you don’t have the financial means to do that, but that is where your head should be at, not doing a video. There are traumatized ppl left behind to figure out how to cope after the horror, what help is your company offering them? Some may even develop ptsd from this incident. A video is the last thing that should be on your mind. If your company does not have the funds, you should be seeking from the insurance company, if the production was insured, the government or private sector to address the mental health needs of these ppl first. This should be your main priority in this moment.
