Yoruba Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha ( Real name Olanrewaju James) has appealed the five-year jail term handed him at the Lagos Division of the Appeal Court.
He urged the Appeal Court to set aside his conviction by a Lagos State High Court for allegedly s#xually assaulting a minor.

On July 12, 2022, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and S#xual Offences Court, jailed him five years for allegedly assaulting a minor
Baba Ijesha, through his counsel, Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 told the Appeal Court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague.
“The appellant was set up. The appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,”
But the Director of Public Prosecution, Babajide Martins, urged the court to dismiss the appeal for lacking in merit and also a misconception.
He urged the court to affirm the judgment of the lower court.

ReplyDeleteIt’s not even long enough. It should be 15 yrs minimum with no chance of parole. He lucky he is even alive because in some countries getting sentenced for harming a child means you could end up dead or get the shyt beat out of you by other prisoners. They harm the weak and expect to pay no price. What a job to be a lawyer and having to defend these types.

DeleteWith this latest story, he should be asked when he started acting in productions without visible cameras, production crew, et al ... and if he insisted the entire incident was scripted, then he should consider his imprisonment as Act 2 Scene 2 of the script.
