The action is sequel to last week’s killing of 16 soldiers and officers at Okuama Community in Delta State.
Soldiers in five gunboats reportedly invaded the community, razing houses suspected to be the hideout of a militant leader allegedly involved in the killing of the military men who were on a rescue mission in Delta.
An Army Commander, two majors, one captain and 12 soldiers of 181 Amphibious Battalion in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta were killed in Okuama community.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, had ordered an immediate investigation and arrest of the culprits.
Days after the order, it was gathered that some residents of Okuama community fled to neighboring Ughelli for fear of reprisal by soldiers.
The soldiers had during the weekend burnt several houses in Okuama, before storming neighboring communities in Bayelsa in pursuit of those involved in the killing.
According to Daily Trust, a source said immediately the troops stormed the Bayelsa community, they opened fire on some residents relaxing at the jetty before proceeding to set ablaze three buildings suspected to be the hideout of the said militant leader.

And they're not done yet o...
ReplyDeleteThey have denied it πππ
ReplyDeleteBut why would a sane person be relaxing at the jetty after such an incident when you know what will follow?
ReplyDeleteRead the news very well. The jetty is in Bayelsa State and what happened was in Delta State. So they wouldn't have expected anything of sort from the military. Just like something happened in Ondo State and the military came into Lagos and shoot at people relaxing at a bar.

ReplyDeleteSouthern Ijaw is a hot place oooooo so Hmmmmmm
Hmmmmmm Hmmmmmm for some of us that knows how hot Southern Ijaw is Hmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteNow they have gone into Bayelsa from Delta state. This is what I have been saying yesterday. All these doesn't show professionalism from the Nigeria military. This is so saddening to see vulnerable people been killed for crimes they didn't commit.
ReplyDeleteI make bold to say again and I make no apologies that it's only in the south especially in the Niger Delta and Eastern Nigeria that the military usually exhibit this level of rascality.
Quite unfortunate solders were killed which is highly condemnable but do you killed everyone in the community and destroy houses all over cos of it?
Not too long ago, 36 solders were killed in shiroro in Niger state more than what just happened. We didn't see all these rascality displayed there. Suffice it to say there are two rules of engagement to issues like this.
Mr president should call these people to order before something unexpectable will happen. In a situation like this, the police should be deployed immediately for arrest, investigation and prosecution if the culprits are caught and not the military killing innocent Nigerians in the south.

Before you come to my comment to spew trash, take a minute and read this paragraph on the news.
Delete''According to Daily Trust, a source said immediately the troops stormed the Bayelsa community, they opened fire on some residents relaxing at the jetty....''
Now I will ask you. Is this the best way to go about it? Those relaxing at the jetty they opened fire on, what are their crimes? If people related to these people they opened fire on retaliate now, they will say our gallant men didn't do anything. Do you see the unprovoked killing of people relaxing at the jetty maybe waiting for their goods. The number said 11 but you know it could be way more than that.

In the north, the community are at the mercy of the bandits/terrorist. It is actually the military trying to rescue them. But in the South, it is the community working together in most cases to kill the military. So juxtapose the scenerior and relate. You see the Igbos hailing UGM, so the military virtually left them at the mercy of there saviour MNK boys.
DeleteYou mus be really silly with this your comment@ arc ore-etigbale!!! The use the military to terrorise , south and Eastern part of Nigeria! Be juxtaposing nonsense there. Oniranu! Niger Delta militants will assemble for this nonsense military act carried out by Nigerian Boko haram military!!! Let's watch!!
