First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said kidnappers operating in the country deserve to die because they are inhumane.
While condemning the latest abduction of over 200 children from primary and secondary schools in Kaduna on Thursday, the president’s wife urged the state governments to punish kidnappers with capital punishment.


Rivers State Police Command has vowed to reinforce security in the state ahead of today’s burial of the late Herbert Wigwe, his wife and son. Their remains arrived at Port Harcourt International Airport yesterday in three separate cartons marked “fragile, handle with care”.

 It was a bloody day in Ebonyi and Benue States on Friday after gunmen shot four police officers and two women dead while suspected herdsmen killed 16 people and set several houses on fire. The four police personnel were killed at a checkpoint in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State and the women were apparently hit by stray bullets on the Nwofe-Hiltop Road in the state capital.

At least two worshippers were killed during Friday prayers at Anguwar Makera under Kwasakwasa Community in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident happened around 2 pm on Friday, according to locals in the area.

 Operatives of Abia State Police Command busted a baby factory Thursday night at Aba and rescued 16 pregnant inmates. The police also rescued eight children which comprised five males and three females.

According to reports, the bandits, last week, launched several attacks on different villages in Katsina, including the Wurma community, which was attacked for three days consecutively, without any intervention from any of the security agencies.

Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NSCDC, has arrested an 85-year-old suspected kidnapper, Ibrahim Usman, at Yar’adua quarters, Rimin Kebe, Ungogo LGA.
The Command’s spokesman, Ibrahim Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement.
He said the suspect abducted a 3-year-old boy in his neighbourhood.
According to him, the suspect attempted to hide him in his friend’s residence situated at Hotoro bye-pass in Kano State but upon suspecting foul play, the friend refused to keep the boy in his custody and decided to alert residents where the suspect lived at Rimin Kebe.
“This development led the suspect to run away and he was later picked up by personnel of the Corp’s Ungogo division.
“Worthy of note is that the suspect had in the last two months collected the victim’s father’s phone number but never called him for once,” Abdullahi said.
