Serial show host Ebuka Ob- Uchendu is so down to earth and this chat is proof that no one stays down for so long...
He said; "I mean it was more on a personal level,so like I said I started working on TV in 2006,I hosted a few shows between 06 and 2010 and then I went to the United States to get a masters degree.
I had this bright idea to get the intellectual property law degree and I will come back, setup this entertainment law firm and be the greatest entertainment lawyer in Nigeria at the time.
When I came back,I had spent all my money in school and I didn't have a job. So,2012 was hard because it was at a time when people had sought of to use the word "loosely" forgotten me. Cos,i was not seen for 2 years and Nigerians they don't waste time to say ahhh.. who dey hot now.
They move on to the next best hosts around because I have not been seen for a while. I didn't have the money to set up entertainment law that at a time cos while do I need a lawyer,is it not to to read contract and sign it myself. Which is why we saw all of this artistes drama with their management that were going on at a time. So, nothing I planned sort of worked out eventually,so I spent a year and half unemployed basically and a good chunk of it was in 2012.
So,I just remember that year of being extremely, confusing, depressing and I had already started considering, you know....maybe I will just carry this my degree and quietly go and look for a 9-5 somewhere, this dream might not necessarily work out. So,it was a very tough mental year for me to make that decision,to say okay....is this what I really want to do? Is it worth it,at the end of the day do you know hold on to this dream of being this TV guy that runs this entertainment law firm and until Rubbin' minds came.

So, Rubbin' minds is very special to me in so many ways, because it was the first job I got after coming back from my masters in almost 2 years, besides the fact that it helped me get back on my feet,it also trained me much better than I expected. So, comparing to 2024 of course they are on different levels because this one,is all of us that everybody is going through it at this point,it doesn't mean I'm not having a tough time like everybody else.
But I think I'm in a phase in my career and age wise as well,I have planned better,I have understood that you don't just get up and assume the world is going to wait for you at your time,so you have to plan for your future better, so that's probably helped me more."
