Healthcare Worker Narrates How She Was Arrested For Helping Someone Who Fainted

This is a story that shouldnt have but it went South within the twinkle of an
 eyelid....

The healthcare worker wrote....

"URGENT!!! PLEASE RETWEET
I was at Karu General Hospital. I was called by the cleaner that someone fainted. I came to see her. As a health care worker with a responsibility, I took her to the hospital.
On getting to the hospital, they said I should go open a folder for her.
I told her that I didn't know the patient. So, I couldn't give her details. My sister got her husband's number and he said we should please take her to the hospital. Upon getting there, they refused to get a stretcher to move her.

After a lot of back and forth, they took her in. And asked us to go get a card. We told them that we didn't have her details as we didn't know her. We told them that her family had been called and they should wait for them to get here.
These people started shouting at us about getting the card. I got angry and we decided to leave while my brother stays back. They blocked the hospital gate and held us hostage that we wouldn't leave. Because we were already at the front, others couldn't come in.

The CMD came and called the police on us. And charged us to court. She equally lied to the Police that we were the ones that attacked the girl. Now, they're charging us to court for domestic violence. I'm currently in detention as I write this.

As a health worker, I'm disappointed and gutted that the CMD, Dr Ede Ojo, is trumping up charges and trying to intimidate us for helping a citizen during a health emergency. I can't believe this.
She has called senior colleagues and lied to them. She has told so many untrue stories. The lady who fainted is in court and has been screaming that we saved her life. But they're lying. I can't believe this is what's going on.
We're being treated like criminals all for helping someone. I've heard of these things happening. I never believed that it'd be me. Nigeria finally happened to me.

  1. You see why we keep saying Nigeria is an insane country to inhabit and some people will think we don't know what we're saying.

The day you leave the shores of Nigeria, is the day your redemption in life has just begun.

Nigeria is one hell of a country filled with criminal minded people.

I decree and declare that they are delivered from the scourging tongues of men in Jesus name. You are a God of justice, let them experience your hand of Justice in Jesus name. 7. Its so unfair. That's why people are so sceptical of helping others when there is emergency.

  8. So if you help someone you don't know a thing about to get them to the hospital they become your responsibility thereafter? Are there not good samaritan laws in Nigeria to protect those who do a good deeds from things like this?

She should file suit against the hospital and the CMD. It is because of the solace of power why they keep doing foolishness like this, if citizens were using the legal system more to protect themselves instead of shying away in fear they would be forced to do better.

    1. Which legal power? I tried that route when I was assaulted and realized lawyers are worse than police when it comes to exploitation . Plus it would take years , na you go tire . Nigeria is NOT a country.

    2. Yes, it may very well take years but it is up to the individual to not give up. My parents were in litigation with a certain ministry for 15 years and eventually they won their case and got their money.

Sorry to learn of your assault and your bad experience. In instances like yours aligning with an NGO or social justice/advocacy group would likely have lead to a more positive experience. If you know that something is wrong you can also use your experiential and open an agency and work to help others, this is how many charitable agencies are formed, through personal experience. There is funding available from larger global groups and that is how change happens.

  10. Stella, they have updated the case sef.
The said lady fainted again in front of the lady who helped earlier, apparently, she drank poison and left a suicide note too, they had to call the police, road safety to come and pick her up and also called her husband.
