Since they think BDC are the problem, why can't they make dollars available in banks and cancel all black market so only banks will have the authority to sell and buy .
ReplyDeleteThey are a huge part of the problem....have you ever been abroad and tried to change another currency into another currency (except naira of cos)´its not the banks that you go to , you go the registered agents and they are a few allowed.....You do this with your national ID card or passport.....The Police will visit u for explanations if you have too much to change...
DeleteThere is no law in Nigeria and too many things which are wrong have been allowed to go on for so long that it looks right but aint right.....
black market to change money does not exist abroad, only in Nigeria..It must be regulated and this is the right step just that a few wont like it and those selling will o longer make huge profits...
It’s not only in Nigeria
DeleteMexico for example has BDCs ie the so called black market
Those markets allow for easy change of currencies when traveling
BDCs are not the problem. Our Naira is weak because our economy is in shambles
You can’t regulate your way out of that
Spot on Stella!
DeleteStella you are right. Whenever I’m in another country and I need to change dollars to the country’s currency, the hotel refers me to the closest money changer who requests for my International passport inorder to capture the data and visa pages for documentation including my hotel details. This also extends to purchasing of SIM cards, the same information is required for immigration purposes. Hopefully FGN will put a lot of things in place and structure will return.
DeleteThey should just do all that's necessary to bring stability here, things just have to be better, we have no where else to go but here.
ReplyDeleteExactly oooo they should make everything go back to how it used to be. Imagine water melon is from 1k upwards how do one balance the meal when they cant afford common fruit.
DeleteGood move 👍
