Zamfara State Govt Pays Gratuities Of 494 Retired LG Employees

The Zamfara State Government has commenced the payment of a backlog of N13.4 billion in gratuities to its retirees at the state and local government levels. This includes gratuities for death, retirement, and contract service.

 The first batch of retirees from 2011 to 2013 has already been settled, with 494 local government retirees receiving their payments after due verification by the Ministry. The second batch, numbering over 405, consists of those who retired from 2015 to 2016, while the third batch of 500 retirees will be paid once the governor releases the funds.

 The committee handling this process has faced challenges, including processing payments for deceased beneficiaries and dealing with missing integral documents from some retirees.....
