The bill aims to amend the 1999 constitution to pave the way for the establishment of state police. This development, though met with apprehension by some lawmakers expressing concerns about potential misuse by state governors, marks a step in the ongoing Constitution Review process.
The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Constitution Review for further consideration.
The introduction of state police is seen as a solution to the country’s worsening security situation.
This is what I have been saying here for over four years now. If this goes through even trough it won't start immediately, i think a large percent of security issues would be solved.
ReplyDeleteThis is a welcome development and I just believe the state governors won't use it against political opponents.

State police is not the solution,to the insecurity problems in this country 😔😔😔
ReplyDeleteIt is Blogbrity.
DeleteThe state governors and state will be solely responsible for whatever happens in the state once it's incorporated. They will map out modalities and even incorporate local vigilante into the system as well. For example, criminals from other states won't have it easy unlike before when they have the cover of their kinsmen as Ogas at Abuja.

Hmmm,Ezege, the creation of state police will increase the cost of governance. The double costing,we are experiencing now, will be mince meat.
