The naira suffered a fresh slide both at the official and parallel foreign exchange markets on Friday. The national currency depreciated to N1,670/$ from N1,600/$ recorded at the close of trading activity on Thursday at the parallel market, while it closed at an official rate of N1,537/$ on Friday from N1,498/$ recorded the previous day.

Police operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command attached to the anti-kidnapping unit have raided two kidnappers’ camps bordering Nasarawa and Abuja via Kuje area council and arrested one Saidu Abdulkadir, popularly known as Dahiru Adamu. The government, on Friday, said that it has attracted over $30 billion in investment into the country. The Upper Sharia Court 1 sitting at GRA Zaria, Kaduna State, has ordered former House of Representatives Member, Hon. Sani Sha’aban, to repay a loan in the sum of $709,238 and N11.2 million to Alhaji Umar Faruk Abdullahi. The presiding judge, Alhaji I’shaq Madahu, also ordered the confiscation of the property Sha’aban used as collateral for the loan.

Ekiti State Police Command, on Friday, disclosed that its operatives have arrested eight suspected members of a kidnapping cartel involved in the abduction of five pupils, three teachers, and a driver of Apostolic Faith School in the state. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Abutu Sunday, while parading the suspects, said the police received credible intelligence that some armed men were planning to kidnap expatriates in a dairy farm in Ikun Ekiti.
