EX Boxer Bash Ali Takes A Walk Down Memorylane....

He says he went from being a Millionaire in dollars to Zeronaire in Naira.

He wrote;"TODAY, Tuesday, February 27 is my birthday. For 17 years I struggled in VAIN to host in my country, Nigeria my Guinness World Record Boxing Championship Fight because I was BOLD to say NO to CORRUPTION in Sport in particular and in Nigeria in general.
In 17 years, I went from being a MILLIONAIRE in DOLLARS to ZERONAIRE in NAIRA. In 17 years I was BEATEN and INJURED that I had to b admitted twice and treated at the National Hospital in Abuja. In 17 years I was DETAINED 8 times at various POLICE STATIONS in Abuja.

In 17 years I was once detained at KUJE PRISON for 43 days. I went through hell in my country not because I am a CRIMINAL but because I say NO to CORRUPTION. Despite JUICY offers to fight OUTSIDE of Nigeria I NEVER GAVE UP ON MY DREAM to fight in Nigeria and I NEVER GAVE UP on Nigeria.
Today, our dream is finally becoming a reality and because I am an EXTRAORDINARY HUMAN BEING, I am going to FIGHT until I am 70 years, retire YOUNG and HEALTHY with a LOT OF MONEY and then go on to b the PRESIDENT of Nigeria. This is my ULTIMATE goal so mark my words. Thank u very much for always being by my side. I appreciate you, always. Happy birthday The Great Bash Ali."

  2. When was he ever a dollar millionaire? If my memory serves me right, right from when I was in secondary school, I have always known Bash Ali to be on MSM, calling out various governments and sports ministers about some fictional money they are owing him or sponsorship issue. Obasanjo also suffered in this mans hand. I think ATP he should give up this world title boxing fight in Nigeria, dream of his.

  7. Bash Ali is mistaken if he thinks Nigeria is responsible for his financial choices made with money from which the country didn't benefit or that the country should again fund his personal sports projects. This is not to say that people who were in office when he started this crusade were not highhanded or even corrupt.

Nigeria is too poor to sponsor the tertiary education of most people and because these people didn't earn the degrees through sweat, they struggle with applying knowledge to better their lives. America other western nations that everyone wants to copy offer loans for those not qualified for scholarships from privately sourced grants and funds. You pay back more than what you have been given in addition to taxes at your job so before you sign up for the loan, you have a good idea how to pay your bill and apply yourself that way.

Highly skilled graduates who enjoyed highly discounted education in public schools are unwilling to give just two years of inexperienced skills to a country that gave them education that empowers for two decades but refused to drop out of the school for not being highly ranked and would even protest increase in fees to raise the standard of education. In the same vein, these people will call their colleagues in government thieves.

Yet again, fellow elites and beneficiaries of Nigeria still want the country to take up projects that are clearly not financially viable and for which they have not been able to secure private funding/ sponsorship

Baba, if your fight is a sure banker, then approach the private sector and plan a proper blockbuster. We need to cut down on white elephant projects for now.
