There's a difference between the two. It's just like asking if there's a difference between those who consult a doctor online and those who visit the hospital. In church, there's social interaction, catching up on old times (for those who are sociable) and that sense of belonging.
ReplyDeleteFor those who pray at home, a lot of your prayers will still be answered but you will miss out on that feeling of togetherness, unless you don't mind.
Bible says forsake not the assembly of the righteous. But be careful out there, because there are fake churches/pastors, prophets etc. If you can't go to church, still listen to christian messages from good preachers, study your Bible, pray, praise, worship, fast and do good deeds. These are things Christians should do regardless.
DeleteThank you
Delete@Twins squared, please carefully read what you wrote and ask yourself if it truly makes sense to you? Is it that you have never heard of tele medicine before? or EWTN? so now the essence of going to church is for social interactions and not to be in the presence of God ? smh....
Delete22:22 Twinsquards comment is balanced except for the fact that the example she cited about online medics and offline. Social interaction with like minds is necessary and that is my only challenge for not attending any physical church . If it's for miracles and other good things I need from relating with God, I don't miss any of such by not attending any physical church.
DeleteCan't really say anything,because it's God,that knows everything.
ReplyDeleteThe bible says we should not forsake the assembly of the brethren Heb 10:25.
ReplyDeleteFor me I prefer going to church to worship and pray to God..it makes me feel more close to God so for me it is not the same thing..
ReplyDeleteGoing to church is to fulfill all righteousness and not forsake the assembly of the brethren. God hear and answer anywhere
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's any difference, as long as you know the God you're serving.
ReplyDeleteThe difference is the social connections and community that the lone person does not get to benefit from. Church is a community and all communities carry benefits for their members. However, I feel that it is easier to connect with the divine in solitude than in a crowd. The two times I felt God I was completely alone and in all my dreams of anything to do with God I am alone. Christ practiced solitude for lengthy periods. Anyone who cares about their spiritual life has to take time for spiritual solitude and quiet contemplation to connect in a profound way. Going to church weekly could be a habit that provides no spiritual transformation.
ReplyDeleteYou saved me from typing this. It's as if i wrote it. My communion with God has tremendously improved and I feel it than it was years ago when I was just gping to church to mark register.
DeleteI strongly believe most Nigerians are more religious than spiritual and this is where the problem lies.
19:21 you are very correct.
DeleteHmm... well said anonymous 19.21
ReplyDeleteGoing to church is better, knowing God and teaching others to know God is structured, whether we believe it or not. It is better to be in the gathering and more folks are brought into the gathering as well, if everybody knows God from their home who would we testify the existence of God to. Give it three generations of knowing God in your bedrooms, and that's how God will disappear from general discussions and day to day live
ReplyDeleteYou have a very valid point. But thank God internet has made it possible for us to share the gospel to people across the globe even without meeting physically. I take very good note of the fact that I should not just know God only for myself, that's selfishness, I need to carry other people along, that's why I created a platform where we share knowledge about the word. Lol, with that, I believe I am doing my quota for the sake of God (I am in the learning stage though).
DeleteNo difference to be very honest. GOD is everywhere
ReplyDeleteI attend church just to mingle and for my kids exposure. I interact with God personally and he has not failed me.
